Furthermore, for instance, when referring to a sprout that is growing, what kind of action of growing does it possess that makes it be "growing"? And what kind of action of growing does it possess that makes it be called a "causer of growth"? That is, the action of growing relies on two bases. There is only one action, but the fact that one action relies on two separate bases is incompatible with inherent existence. If both the verbal action and the agent noun have meaning, then one of them will become empty of meaning. If one asserts that both have meaning, then there would be two actions of growing, and therefore the agent, the sprout, would also become two. This treatise is applied by both teachers to refute the production of others from oneself. Although the example of the lamp previously refuted the meaning of producing both oneself and others, it cannot be universally applied to refutation. Second, if only what is growing is what is born, and what is unborn and what is born are not. It is also not the case that there is no growing apart from what is born and unborn, because what possesses the action of growing is called "growing," and there is also growth. If that is the case, since growing is established in dependence on birth, therefore only what is growing is born, and it is also caused to be born by birth. When does birth exist? That is, in dependence on the action of birth, the inherent existence of what is growing is established, and this growing is also arising, that is, it is birth. Saying this, in the case of sprouts and so on, in dependence on this birth, one must be able to definitively grasp that this growing sprout and so on is this, in the state of growing. But one cannot definitively grasp it, because at that time they have not yet been born, so one cannot grasp their characteristics. Therefore, in that state, because there are no growing sprouts and so on, at that time their action of growing is also inherently non-existent. So, how can one say that in dependence on the action of growing, the growing sprouts and so on are inherently existent? One cannot say that. The second part has two parts: refuting the debate on the refutation of the birth of the three times, and refuting the debate on the refutation of the birth of what is growing. The first part is: people of one's own sect, under the guise of explaining the Buddha's teachings, only excel at refuting others and show it off. The meaning of what the Buddha taught

You are very afraid of destroying the truth of the noble ones, dependent origination. The Tathagata, with "This being, that arises," etc., refuted the view that self-nature and Ishvara, etc., are the makers, and thus revealed the reality of things. But you refute it with "Born, unborn, being born, in no way is it born," etc., which is like killing the dependent origination that is the mother of the Buddhas. Therefore, arguing with you, who say that dependent origination does not exist, is enough for now. This person argues because he understands that the reasons stated earlier block the cause and effect of establishing the producer and the produced on dependent origination. It should be remembered: I am not the one who destroys the dependent origination that is the mother of the Buddhas, but you yourself, lacking faith in profound dependent origination, have perverted its meaning and slander us. When the Teacher said, "Depending on this, that arises," he clearly showed that all dharmas are without self-nature. Whatever is dependently originated is by its very nature peaceful, detached, and empty. In this way, if things exist by their own nature, they must hold their own unchanging nature by their own self-nature, and because they do not depend on anything else, there will be no birth. Therefore, if you admit that things exist by their own nature, how can there be dependent origination? Therefore, only you, by admitting that things have self-nature, will in every way harm the dependent origination of things. Therefore, this also harms seeing the Dharma and seeing the Buddha, because the scriptures say: "Whoever sees dependent origination sees the Dharma; whoever sees the Dharma sees the Buddha." We show that depending on the cause called "seed," the effect called "sprout" arises, and that both of these are dependently originated, peaceful, and devoid of self-nature, thus clearly elucidating the dependent origination that is the mother of the Buddhas in every way. Whatever is dependently originated is by its very nature peaceful, therefore, in dependent origination, both being born and birth are existent by their very nature.
