It is refuted that the difference in function is not admitted. Refuting other-origination, if it arises from an independent "other," then in all cases identical to the "other," there would be no difference between arising and not arising, so this reasoning is not without difference. The second case is: Furthermore, if fire and firewood are intrinsically different, then it would become constantly burning, and it would not arise from the cause of burning. Effort would also become meaningless, and if so, karma would also disappear. Establishing this reason is, if fire exists intrinsically in firewood, then because fire does not depend on firewood, this burner is firewood. Therefore, the cause of burning will not arise from it. Fire that depends on the burner, if it does not exist, will extinguish, then not depending on it, the conditions for extinguishing are not complete, it will become constantly burning. If it is constantly burning, then all efforts such as taking firewood and igniting it in order not to let the fire extinguish will become meaningless. If so, without the karma of being burned, fire will become the burner, then there is no agent without karma. Therefore, it is unreasonable for fire to exist intrinsically in firewood. Here, too, one should know that by the opposite of refutation, the absence of "other" is established by reasoning. The second case is: If fire and firewood are different, then fire will arise without firewood. If someone thinks like this, the firewood that has the function of burning, that is burning, and the fire also depends on it, without interruption, so there is no fault that fire will arise without firewood. If at any time, the firewood that has the function of burning, that is burning, is only firewood, then there is no fire that has become different from it intrinsically. Therefore, which fire that is intrinsically different from firewood will burn the firewood? This is unreasonable. Therefore, the establishment of firewood that has the function of burning is also non-existent, so that fault cannot be avoided. This reasoning is stated in the Hundred Treatises: Fire burns heat, how can it burn what is not heat? Therefore, there is no such thing called firewood, without it, fire does not exist either. What is said is very clear. Second, divided into two: Main text

Its meaning and the elimination of uncertainty about it. First, furthermore, because the nature of fire is different from firewood, it will be impossible to meet like darkness, and if there is no meeting, just like living in the place of the end of the kalpa, the firewood will not be burned. In this way, it is unreasonable to say that what is burning is firewood. If it does not burn, it will not die, because if the fire burns the firewood, the burned object will be exhausted and die, and if it does not burn, there is no cause of death. If it does not die, it will abide in a state of having its own extremely burning sign. Also, if the word "also" is used as a definite grasp in three meanings, it means abiding only in a state of having its own sign, or that fire is only not transformed from firewood. If it is used as the meaning of distinction, it will become any of the situations such as not being able to meet. If it is used as the meaning of collection, it means that not being able to meet, etc., is not just what it was before. Therefore, it is unreasonable for fire to arise from firewood. Saying this is to show the elimination of those inferences. Second, if because of being different, they do not meet, and there is no meeting, etc., it is unreasonable to say this, even if fire is different from firewood, it can meet with firewood, just like a woman and a man, and a man also meets with a woman. Although this verse is used as an answer in the new translation, Jokro translated both Buddhapalita and Wisdom Lamp into the पूर्वपक्ष (藏文:ཕྱོགས་སྔའི་,梵文天城体:पूर्वपक्ष,梵文罗马拟音:pūrvapakṣa,汉语字面意思:前论) treatises, and, if fire is different from firewood, it can also meet with firewood, this translation is very good. If fire and firewood are mutually exclusive, just like men and women, if they are established as mutually independent, even if fire is different from firewood, if you want to meet with firewood, it is impossible. Therefore, this metaphor is meaningless, because it should exemplify the meeting of two different things that are mutually dependent, but it is not exemplified in this way. Second, there are two, refuting the establishment of dependence, refuting the establishment of what is seen by direct perception. First, if fire and firewood are not mutually independent like men and women, but are dependent. Therefore, these two have their own nature established, because the son and daughter of a barren woman who do not exist are not seen to be mutually dependent.
