It has been said. The second has two parts: stating the former position and refuting it. The first is: If it is admitted that that person exists before all views and so on, then those faults exist, but the receiver does not exist before all views and so on, but exists before each one. Therefore, among the objects to be taken, such as views, when the sense of sight makes that person clear, another sense makes it clear at another time, but does not make it clear at that time. When one is bound by relying on sight, one is not bound by relying on hearing, so one also exists before one's own object to be taken, and there is no fault of not being the cause of being designated as a person, they say. This (opponent) previously only said that it exists before its own object to be taken, but did not say that it exists before all views and so on. Therefore, there is no fault of being the cause of not being designated as a person, because they do not admit that it exists before all, they thought. What is to be refuted now is that the present person is the receiver, and his eyes and so on are considered to be the objects to be taken. The person of the previous life taking the body of the later life is not the meaning of the receiver and the object to be taken in this case. So, what does it mean that a person takes views and so on? It means that when that person has finished looking at form, and the sense of sight has disappeared, then he has taken it. At that time, he is considered to exist simultaneously with the sense of sight, and to exist before the sense of hearing and so on, so one should also know the other (situations). The second is: If that self does not exist before all views and so on, then how can that self exist before each view and so on? It is not reasonable to exist. For example, if there is no forest before all trees, then there is also none before each one; if all the sand does not have the ability to extract sesame oil, then neither does each grain of sand. Furthermore, if one says that it exists before each one, then one would be admitting that it also exists before all, because there is no all except for each one. This is like speaking to each person present there, and when there is no one left, it is like speaking to all the people present there. That person views and so on

If, starting from each one, without leaving any remainder, something exists before each one, then ultimately it can be established that something exists before all views, etc. If, in a chronological order, it exists before all that are counted one by one, but at the time of existing before the view, if one does not want it to exist before all at the same time, like existing before all the remainder, then there is no contradiction. If someone thinks like that, then since this is the occasion to refute the inherent existence of the taker and the taken, there is no fault. This reasoning also should not exist before each one, because if a person is to exist before each of the views, etc., then it must be that the seer is also the hearer, and also the feeler. That is not reasonable, because the hearer who is separate from the act of seeing is also the seer, and the seer who is separate from the act of hearing is also the hearer. Because the actors of each action are different, it is not reasonable that the seer himself is also the hearer. Although it must be admitted that one named Lhas Byin exists before ten people in sequence only nominally, if one wishes that the Lhas Byin sitting before the first person also sits before the second person, then one must admit that the seer who saw the form before is the same as the hearer who heard the sound later. Although it must be so, since the other party has not admitted it, one might wonder how this refutation is reasonable. In general, for the Sthavira school, the Pramāṇavārttika says: "That whose nature is indestructible, the wise call it permanent. Therefore, abandon this shameful view, that is said to be permanent." As it is said, since the part of the person who existed before the eye before is also considered to exist without decay before the ear sense later, that fault can also be stated through such an admission. But here, if a person inherently exists, then the seer and the hearer are either inherently one or different, and will not go beyond these two situations. Since difference is refuted later, if it is one, then the one who existed before one dharma before must also sit before the second dharma later. Therefore, for those who wish to exist before each one in sequence, the fault of "that seer" can also be stated.
