If it is said that conditioned phenomena exist by their own nature because their opposite, unconditioned phenomena, exist, then, as previously explained, conditioned phenomena are not established by their own essence. Therefore, for unconditioned phenomena, whether it is cessation through discrimination or cessation not through discrimination, as well as space and suchness, how can it be established that they exist by their own nature? This has been clearly explained. Here, the scriptures extensively refute that conditioned phenomena are real. So, how can unconditioned phenomena be established as real? The intention of what is said is: Even if one considers unconditioned phenomena to be real, one must also consider them to be objects of valid cognition. If so, then, for a moment, measuring cannot measure, and so on, with reasoning. Even if one considers them to be what is obtained, then, for a moment, obtaining cannot obtain, and so on. Even if one considers them to abide in such a basis, then, for a moment, abiding does not abide, and so on, to refute. Similarly, even if one considers them to be the cause of what is obtained, it should be refuted as explained in the analysis of aggregates. Moreover, for these, one must consider them to be designations. If so, it should be refuted as explained in the analysis of elements. By analogy, the reasoning of arising from others, which was previously explained, can also be extended to refute. If these reasonings cannot refute the belief that unconditioned phenomena are real as what is obtained, etc., then the reality of conditioned phenomena cannot be refuted either, and it is the same in all aspects. Therefore, even if one understands well the reasoning of each of the noble treatises, all such wrong conceptions are reversed. To say that conditioned phenomena are not real, but unconditioned phenomena are established, is a statement of not understanding reasoning. Third, if arising, abiding, and ceasing are not established by their own nature, then conditioned phenomena also appear to arise, etc. If this is said, then how should this be understood? Just like a dream, just like an illusion, just like a city of gandharvas, thus saying arising, thus saying abiding, thus saying ceasing, but it is not saying arising, etc., established by one's own nature. Just like illusions, etc., although there is no such thing as it appears, these all become the path of verbal designations. Similarly, arising, etc., are not existent by their own nature, but are shown only from the perspective of worldly convention. In short, although arising, ceasing, etc., are not established by their own nature, the illusion that appears there

Just as they are placed in "non-existence," it does not contradict the scriptures that speak of them. If there is no basis for establishing arising, ceasing, etc., then it would contradict the scriptures. Arising, etc., are objects of manifest consciousness, and they have agents, and are common objects for many sentient beings. In order to dispel the thought that they are real, the Lamp of Wisdom says that three examples, such as dreams, are given in order. Secondly, in this way, it is shown that the determination by reason that arising, abiding, and ceasing are not established by their own nature is also in accordance with the definitive scriptures. And the explanation of "form has no arising," the explanation of "one should not abide in form," and the explanation of "form does not cease," etc., in order to show that all that is said in the scriptures, this differentiation should be explained by taking reason. If only the aspect of combining with the definitive scriptures is mentioned, in the King of Samadhi Sutra it says: This collection of skin, sinews, flesh, and bones is mine. After generating the thought that it is a wife, foolish children generate desire, but do not understand women as being like illusions. Just as in the dream of a young girl, she sees a son born and then die, she is happy when he is born and unhappy when he dies. Know that all phenomena are the same. Just like a Gandharva city, a mirage, like an illusion, like a dream. All phenomena should be known in the same way, contemplating signs, empty of own nature. And it says: Conditioned and unconditioned are all peaceful, those sages have no discrimination. Having attained the unconditioned in all places, completely peaceful from all views. Whoever knows such phenomena, is always without attachment, without violence, without ignorance. His mind naturally abides in equanimity, he is a powerful Samadhi, endowed with power. Thirdly, if arising, abiding, and ceasing are not merely established as existing by the power of convention, but exist as if grasping them as existing by their own nature, then none of these three can be established, and it should be determined as determined by reason. After that, merely established by the power of convention, these are all very reasonable, and all conditioned phenomena are empty of own nature, but
