The root lies in demonstrating limitless and countless diverse paths of reasoning, in order to generate a profound understanding of the profound meaning. Fourth, having faith in such profound Dharma is greatly praised, as stated in the Collected Sutras: Having faith in the profound Dharma accumulates all merit for a long time, and until Buddhahood is attained, all worldly and transmundane perfections will be accomplished. As it appears in the Sutra Given by the Precious Boy: Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva, if lacking skillful means, practices the six perfections for hundreds of thousands of eons, it is better than someone who listens to this Dharma with doubt, for this person generates more merit than the former, let alone listening without doubt? What need to mention writing, reciting, upholding, and extensively teaching it to others? Also, in the Diamond Cutter Sutra, the Blessed One said: Subhuti, what do you think? If there were as many sands as in the Ganges River, and as many Ganges Rivers as there are sands, would the sands in those rivers be many? Subhuti replied: Very many, Blessed One. The Ganges Rivers themselves are countless, let alone their sands. The Blessed One said to Subhuti: I now tell you truthfully, if a virtuous man or virtuous woman were to fill as many three thousand great thousand worlds as there are sands in those Ganges Rivers with the seven precious jewels and give them as alms to the Tathagata, would that man or woman generate much merit from that basis? Subhuti replied: Very much, Blessed One. The Sugata is very much. The Blessed One said: Whoever takes hold of even a four-line verse from this Dharma discourse and teaches it to others, generates even more merit than that. Furthermore, in the Tathagatagarbha Sutra, the ten great non-virtues are enumerated, and it is said that those who possess these evils, if they enter the Dharma of no-self and believe that all dharmas are primordially pure, then that being will not go to the lower realms.

It is said in the Lava Chapter that if a bhikshu knows that all dharmas are extremely tamed, and also knows that the beginning and end of faults are naturally empty, thereby eliminating the regret of generating faults, and does not hold on to faults, then even suppressing the five inexpiable sins, what need is there to mention minor violations of rituals and precepts? Thus it is said. And it is said in the Sutra of Ajatashatru that if someone who commits the five inexpiable sins enters and believes after hearing this excellent Dharma, I will not say that his karma is a karmic obscuration. Such as these, as cited by the teacher. Fifth, when listening to the words of profound emptiness, some people do not believe and abandon it, therefore falling into the lower realms; while others, although they believe, perversely grasp that the meaning of naturally empty is that there is nothing, thereby slandering it, therefore the teacher should determine the difference in belief before explaining it. How is it known from the signs? It is said in the Entering Path: Even in the state of an ordinary person, after hearing emptiness, Great joy arises in the heart, and arises again and again, Tears flow from great joy, wetting the eyes, Whoever has the hairs of the body standing on end, This person has the seed of the complete Buddha's wisdom, This person is a vessel capable of indicating emptiness, The ultimate truth should be explained to this person, This person will generate the qualities that follow emptiness. Thus, three signs are explained. Not only are the first two faults absent, but also the qualities of the listener will arise, For example, when he hears the view of emptiness, he rejoices as if he has found a treasure, and contemplates the method of not losing this view in other lives, thinking: If I fall into the lower realms due to the breaking of precepts, then the lineage of the view of emptiness will be cut off, therefore he properly takes the precepts, and after taking them, he also makes them completely pure. Even if he is reborn in the higher realms by means of precepts, if he becomes poor, he thinks: If I am distracted by seeking food and clothing, etc., I will not be able to continuously listen to emptiness, therefore he gives charity. The view of emptiness is held by great compassion, thinking: If it is held by great compassion, one can become a Buddha, if it is separated from great compassion, one cannot become a Buddha, therefore he becomes accustomed to cultivating compassion. If anger arises, one will fall into the lower realms, and even if one is reborn in the higher realms, one will not be able to please the noble ones because of the extremely ugly appearance.
