If someone thinks that one should not assert other-birth that is neither past nor future, but should assert birth as stated in the scriptures. Then, the commentary on the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way" says that it is not for the purpose of showing self-characteristic birth either. Therefore, although birth is asserted, self-characteristic birth is not asserted. Then, what does it show? It shows a birth like an illusion that arises instantaneously relying on something without being examined. Instantaneously means that the activities of arising and ceasing occur simultaneously, and relying on that, the result arises. What is refuted by the later reasoning is that if the word "thing" of "other-thing" is understood as showing its own meaning, then the selflessness of no-self becomes the reason for refuting others, not the reason for refuting birth. Therefore, since reasoning is harmful to "other-birth", although it is said in the scriptures that all phenomena arise from the four conditions, other-birth is not the view of the Buddha. Because he does not accept meanings that contradict reasoning. The intention of the scriptures is that, as it is said, due to the condition of ignorance, actions arise, etc., which are not ultimate truth but conventional truth. Therefore, the sutras that say that birth arises from the four conditions do not show other-birth either. Up to this point, in order to refute other-birth, three reasonings have been shown, the first is to refute that the other and birth are the same basis, the second is to refute birth, and the third is to refute that the cause and effect are others, through the door of stability, and it is necessary to distinguish each different way of showing harm. In other situations, it should be understood in the same way. If these are not well distinguished, then the power of the wisdom that analyzes suchness will be small, and genuine faith will not arise from seeing the extraordinary qualities possessed by the teacher who shows the true meaning and the wise ones who explain its meaning, and in other lives, there will be no very stable habit of not departing from this path, and there will be no agreement with the meaning of the very extensive selflessness shown by the Bodhisattvas. Therefore, every subtle reasoning of the definitive meaning of this great being should be sought with respectful mind. The second part has three aspects: refuting the nature of conditions in common, refuting them separately, and showing another way of refuting them in common. The first part has two aspects: from the perspective of action.

Refuting the imputation of conditions. Refuting the imputation of conditions through the door of action. The first has two: refuting the imputation of conditions by the reason of accomplishing the action of arising; refuting the imputation of conditions by the reason of producing the result. The first is: those who say that arising is from action, the arising that was previously refuted is the position that the result actually arises from conditions, but it is not harmful to refute that. We do not want the conditions of eye and form, etc., to actually produce consciousness, but because they accomplish the action of the arising of consciousness, they are called conditions. Because that action also produces consciousness, the action of producing consciousness, combined with conditions, actually produces consciousness, but not the conditions themselves. For example, like the action of cooking rice. Thus, one thinks that conditions accomplish the actual action, and that also produces the result. When consciousness is about to arise, consciousness is not present, but the action of its arising is present. The action of arising that exists at that time exists in the conditions of eye, etc., and that is also the nature of conditions. Therefore, arising from such an action is accepted by the Sutrantikas and above. At that time, the action exists without the conditions of eye, etc., and even if eye, etc., exist, consciousness does not actually arise from them, which is not accepted by either of the two schools. Therefore, it is difficult to establish that the two who speak of meaning follow the mark of grammar and argue. It is reasonable to say that the one who knows language is a grammarian. Although the action of arising at the time of the manifestation of arising is the cause of the result, in general, it is not contradictory to say that the action of arising and the result, and the agent and the object, are the dependent and the depended upon. Just as the impermanence of a conch shell produces the sound of a conch shell, but the sound of a conch shell and impermanence are not contradictory as the dependent and the depended upon. If the action of arising has something established by its own nature, it can be accomplished by conditions and produce consciousness, but that is not the case. Thus, if this action is desired at the time of the manifestation of the arising of consciousness, if consciousness has already arisen, then this is not needed, because it is unreasonable for what has already arisen to arise again. It is also unreasonable for what has not arisen, because there was no agent before, thus showing the reason for having no basis. In general.
