It is not established as being the very nature itself. As it is said, it is not merely cutting off self-nature, nor is it established as abiding in the essence of selflessness, meaning that it does not establish the essence of non-existence by way of establishing it by negating existence from it, but rather it is said to be intended to show the path of abandoning both extremes. Similarly, in the Clear Words, it is also said: We do not establish this as non-existence and existence, but rather we prevent others from establishing it as existence and establishing it as non-existence, therefore, we want to establish the Middle Way by abandoning both extremes. As it is said, it is only refuting the extremes of existence and non-existence accepted by others, and apart from that, it does not establish anything else. It is not that merely refuting the two extremes is not established, but because it is said that the Middle Way is established by abandoning the two extremes. Secondly, there are two: the reasoning of preventing self-origination and the reasoning of preventing other-origination, etc. First, there are three: establishing one's own tenets, and the way in which others criticize it, and explaining the reasons why this fault does not exist in one's own tenets. The first is: The Samkhyas see that it is unreasonable for internal objects such as eyes and external objects such as sprouts to arise when they do not exist in the causal state. Therefore, they believe that things that exist in an unmanifest way in the nature of causes such as seeds arise from them, and they do not want things that are already manifest to arise. When preventing it, preventing it with the fault of birth being meaningless means that the sprouts and so on will become meaningless again, because they have already obtained their own nature. If birth is for the purpose of obtaining one's own nature, then there is no need to be born again after it has been obtained. If it is said that even if one's own nature has been obtained, it is necessary to be born, and this is not contradictory, then preventing it with the fault of infinity means that the sprouts and so on will never stop being born again, because even if it has been established, it must be born again. To this, others argue that things that exist unmanifestly in the form of power must be born manifestly, and things that are already manifest do not need to be born, so the previous and subsequent inferences are not universally applicable. However, this does not eliminate the fault, because if the manifest thing already existed before, then there is no need to be born there; if it already existed before but still arises, then the fault of infinity will exist; if the manifest thing did not exist before, then it existed before in the cause.

It is the sectarian view that only produces lotuses. Although some characteristics of Samkhya are not desired to arise, they are desired to be manifest, yet those reasons are able to refute them. In the twenty-seventh chapter, other reasons for preventing this are also stated, although Sangyas Kyang defended with two reasons, many such reasons also appear in the scriptures. Secondly, here Sangyas Kyang says that things do not arise from the nature of the self, because their arising would become meaningless and the arising would become endless. To this, Lekden says that it is unreasonable, because that argument does not state the reason and example that can establish the non-arising of the self, it is merely a proposition. The Samkhya school says that if the meaning of "from the self" is from the nature of the manifest result, then it is a repetition of proving what has already been established; if it arises from the nature of the unmanifest potential cause, then all living beings can only arise from that, which would be contradictory, because the fault of examining the opposing proposition without eliminating it has not been eliminated. Because it is language that can be criticized by other debaters, it is also unreasonable. Qingbian translated it as "because it is language that will become a fault," but the Prajnapradipa translated it as "because it is language with loopholes," and the commentary also explains it this way, and because of that reason it is also unreasonable, explained as a reason for being unreasonable. How does it become a loophole? Because it is contrary to the meaning of the argument at the time. The way it becomes language with loopholes by being contrary to the meaning of the time is: because the opposite meaning of the proposition "things do not arise from the nature of the self" is obvious, therefore things arise from others, and the opposite meaning of the dharma characteristic that can be established is obvious, therefore arising becomes meaningful and finite, thus there is a fault of contradicting one's own tenets, they say. Even if meaning and end do not exist, it is not a reason, if self-arising exists, then the non-existence of meaning and end cannot be a reason, because if it is established on the basis of the argument, then what is to be established must also be established. Therefore, the opposite meaning is the reason. If it is necessary to refute the established reason, then it is also necessary to refute the established proposition, because they are the same. Therefore, refute the reason.
