So, do the Samkhyas intend to explain the meaning of arising by saying that pre-existing factors merely make it manifest, and therefore, when they say "a sprout arises," does the meaning of "a sprout arises" also become limited to just that? Answer: If it has the ability, it is said, it is necessary to have both the ability to show the former and the intention to express it, so there is no fault. Therefore, establishing a reductio is merely a result of preventing others' commitments, so it is said that there is no transformation into a meaning that is the opposite of the reductio. The previously stated reductio, with the meaning of reversing the reductio-dharma, arises again, and although it does not establish the non-existence of self-birth with a reason that has meaning and connection, it is not without necessity, because it establishes the birth that the Samkhyas do not accept as meaningless and unconnected, and it merely establishes the severance of birth from the self that the Samkhyas have committed to, so it is meaningful and necessary. If one admits that a sprout has a nature that is established by its own essence, then it will not become dependent on the seed to arise, because it exists by its own essence. Like issuing a reductio like this, one would say that because it arises dependently, a sprout does not have a nature established by its own essence, and by making the reversal of the reductio-dharma the reason, there are very many cases of establishing the commitment to reverse the reductio-reason. In this case, it only severs what others have committed to as existing by its own essence, and does not establish other dharmas, which is the same in all cases. This is issuing a reversal, but it is not issuing a self-continuum reversal, and there are two types of reductio: issuing a reversal and not issuing a reversal. Therefore, although one admits the probandum and the probans for establishing one's own system, one does not admit the probandum and the probans of the self-continuum. So, what is the meaning of self-continuum? In the Prajnaloka, in a chapter commenting on others' faults, Jokro translated it as "Is it said autonomously, or is it said under the control of refutation?" Therefore, the meaning of self-continuum is the meaning of autonomy. This is also because it is necessary to establish selflessness, and when observing how it becomes a valid cognition for the opponent, all the places where it becomes a valid cognition tend towards the meaning of existing by its own essence, and apart from that, it becomes a valid cognition in the sense that it does not differentiate between whether it exists by its own essence or not.

There is not. Therefore, if one establishes the thesis with two subjects using a valid cognition that measures the meaning of the absence of self-nature, the object to be proven is already established, thus exceeding the assertion of inherent existence. If one establishes it with a valid cognition that measures the meaning of the existence of self-nature, the object to be refuted cannot be refuted. Since one does not rely on the opponent's acceptance, the valid cognition cannot independently establish the thesis from the way things abide, thus not accepting the Svātantrika system. However, the valid cognition must establish the object to be proven with a reason that is established for the opponent, which the opponent has accepted or must accept, so it is established for the opponent himself, or by observing the previous debater, it is established by inference that is known to others. Seeing that these are very difficult to understand, they have already been extensively explained in works such as the Essence of Eloquence, and should be understood from there. The second part has two points: refuting the arising from the three extremes, and the meaning established by refuting the four extremes, including disputes and abandonment. The first point is: Although many different reasonings for refuting other-origination are mentioned in the scriptures, Buddhapālita, in the twentieth chapter of his commentary, refutes it with the reasoning that "if it arises from another, then the cause and non-cause would be the same." Candrakīrti also refutes it with the same reasoning from the Madhyamakāvatāra. In the Clear Words, in the context of "the self-nature of things," he both made a throw and refuted it with the previous reasoning. Buddhapālita said: It does not arise from another either, because it would become everything arising from everything. Here it is said that if it arises from another, it would become everything arising from everything, the reason for throwing out such an excessive fault is that the "other" of other-origination is not the difference understood separately by the difference of object names, but the difference established by its own nature. If it is established there, then the sprout contradicts relying on the seed, so it can prevent the connection, and if it arises from one unrelated other thing, it will become everything arising from everything. Therefore, if the way the seed is different from the sprout by its own nature is the same as the way it is different from coal, then the arising or not arising of the sprout from the two is also the same, as it says in the Madhyamakāvatāra: Everything would arise from everything, for what reason? Because all that do not cause are the same in otherness. It also says: Those that are separate by their own characteristics, it is not reasonable for them to belong to one continuum. Such self-characteristics.
