Since it is present in everything, such remembrance is not contradictory. If the giver of this life were present in the previous life, it would also be different from permanence. Similarly, for future lives, even if the person of this life does not go to the next life, the thought of "I," just the object of "I," will still follow. Therefore, fearing the suffering of future lives, one abandons the cause of it here—non-virtue, and strives for virtue here in order to attain happiness, which is also reasonable. For example, even if this person of today is not there tomorrow, he fears the suffering of hunger and thirst that may occur tomorrow, so he accumulates food from today; fearing the suffering of old age, he accumulates wealth in his youth. All of these are done without distinguishing "I in this place at this time" but universally hoping to attain my happiness and be free from suffering. Even just "I" follows in those times, Therefore, the delusion of the object is also not. Therefore, do not regard the person who says "I am" and the basis on which the name is established—"I" as coextensive, but know that this person is a part of that "I." These are very important for the general dependent origination, especially for the certainty of the arising of happiness and suffering, the result of black and white karma, so I will just say a little. Here, the commentaries say that just as mango trees and the like, even if aging and destruction have not occurred before, one first sees the arising, similarly, even if aging and death have not occurred before, one speaks of a being. Those also arise when their own seeds are exhausted, so they are not other arisings that have not been destroyed, and are the same as before. If one thinks that the arising of the tree is because the seed is different from the tree, so the arising of the tree is not other than that which has not been destroyed. The sutras say that because cause and effect are not other entities, they are the same as what is to be established. If traced back to the same continuum, it is the same as me, if it is not so, it is difficult to answer. Secondly, if the arising of sentient beings is delayed, and from then on, its aging and death occur first, then how can aging and death without arising exist without a cause? It will not exist. Because the sutras say that birth is the cause of aging and death. As it is said: When the body is lifted up, there is a cause for lifting up, but the view of lifting up, apart from the cause, there is no falling.

That which is said, just as lifting up is the cause of falling alone, and not of anything else, similarly, birth alone is the cause of destruction, and not anything else. If it is certain, then destruction does not exist without a cause. Since this destruction has birth as its cause, therefore, only arising is the cause of destruction. Thus, conditioned dharmas arise with causes. Whatever is born is destroyed; this is the nature of all things. It is said that this is also well quoted, that destruction at a later time is the result of birth at an earlier time. Secondly, it is not reasonable for birth and aging and death to exist simultaneously by their very nature. If that were the case, then one would die while being born, and one would cease while ceasing, which is also unreasonable. Because they are mutually contradictory like light and darkness, and it is not seen in the world that one dies while being born. In general, the actions of birth and cessation are not contradictory, and birth and cessation are not contradictory, but it is well known to all that being born and ceasing at the same time are contradictory on the same basis. If birth and cessation are established by their own characteristics, then, as previously stated, the cause of birth must exist at the time of birth. If that is the case, then it will become the present, and it will also become the time of cessation, and at that time, the increase at the time of birth and the decrease at the time of cessation will be contradictory. Both birth and death will also become causeless, because two simultaneous things cannot reasonably be the cause of one another, and because death has not preceded birth, and birth has not preceded death. Thirdly, whether there is a sequence of before, after, and simultaneous for birth, etc., or not, for the time being, birth and aging and death exist. It is not reasonable for them to be without a basis, so they must belong to someone, and if you think that it is me, then, if you first examine it with reason, then it is impossible for there to be a sequence of which of birth and aging and death comes first, later, and simultaneously, so why do you rejoice in saying that birth is that and aging and death are that? And if you do not see them, then why do the noble ones rejoice, that is, do not rejoice, because they see things as they really are. If birth
