Because it is not burning, it is unreasonable as fuel. Secondly, if you say, what is the use of this very subtle analysis to us? Because we clearly see the fuel being burned by the fire, so fire and fuel exist in essence. If you just say that, then, if fire exists in essence, then it must come from something other than wood, or from the wood itself. But fire does not come from something other than wood, because it has not been seen to arise that way. Even if it arises, it will become causeless because there is no fuel. If there is fuel, there is no need for fire to arise. Moreover, debating there in the same way as with fuel will lead to the fault of infinity. There is no fire in the wood either, because it is not seen. Secondly, the remaining refutations regarding fuel should be understood in the same way as the refutations that have already passed, by changing the statements that have been said and not said, and by considering them. That is, "temporarily burns but does not burn down," and "burns but has no beginning of burning," and "the one who burns temporarily does not burn," and so on, all the statements must be changed. Thirdly, if we summarize what has been said above, the wood itself is not fire, because it would become the agent and the action being the same thing. Other than wood, that is, there is no fire in other places either, because there would be faults such as fire arising without wood. Fire together with wood is also not essentially existent, if it is the same in essence, like "Devadatta has intelligence," then there will be the reason to prevent one touch. If it is a different entity, like "Devadatta has a cow," then it will be negated by the reason for preventing other things before. Because one and many are prevented, those are also prevented in meaning. Fire is also not essentially dependent on wood, because it must be like a backrest depending on a chair, and that is also negated by the reason for preventing other things. The fire in the fuel also does not exist in essence, because it is negated by the reason for preventing other things. Thus, both the dependent and the object of dependence are prevented, and this has already been explained in meaning. Secondly, because it is the object of clinging to self, therefore, clinging and pride are generated towards this, so it is called I and

It should be understood that near-taking is taken by what should be taken. Regarding the order of establishment of these two, it should be understood that all the explanations are made by fire and firewood without any omission. If someone asks, 'What is the difference between "all" and "without remainder"?' The answer is: Saying "all" refers to combining the two, self and near-taking, like fire and firewood, completely and without lack of the five aspects including one and many that have just been discussed. Saying "without remainder" refers to applying all the reasons previously discussed for refuting these five aspects to refuting the five aspects of self and near-taking. If self and near-taking are the same thing, then the fault of the agent and the action becoming one will be committed; if they are different things, then the fault of being independent of each other will be committed. Because these two situations have been prevented, the other three situations such as having are also prevented. Therefore, it should be understood that the two, self and near-taking, like the agent and the action, are not established by their own nature, but are merely established by mutual dependence. Not only is the order of self and near-taking like this, but for all things such as vases and woolen cloths, the analogy of fire and wood should be used for explanation. Vases and woolen cloths can be regarded as cause and effect, parts and whole, characteristics and characterized, qualities and qualified. Among them, mud, water, wheels, and potters are the cause, and vases are the effect. Parts or blue, etc. are parts, and vases are the whole. Wide belly, drooping mouth, open mouth, and long neck, etc. are characteristics, and vases are the characterized. Blue-green, etc. are qualities, and vases are the qualified. Similarly, it can be applied to other things, and for these things, the reasons for one and many, dependence and independence, and refuting coming and going, etc. can be applied in the same way. Third, therefore, just like the agent and the action, self and near-taking, and vases, etc. are not inherently existent, but are established as mutually dependent. Regarding this, those who claim to have understood the Buddha's teachings without inversion, but actually analyze the tenets of non-Buddhists with non-Buddhist theories, and then force them to be understood as the meaning understood from the Buddha's teachings. Those who cling to near-taking as self
