And, for what has not become karma and what has become karma, and both what has not become karma, it does not do, because the reason for that is, the reason is, above it has become existent but there is nothing to do. And so on, because it is the agent, it acts, and, for karma, there is no cause. And so on, showing the fault of doing non-karma, and, becoming existent and not becoming existent, and so on, because it shows the fault of doing both existent and non-existent karma. For what has not become an agent, for what has become karma and possesses, that is, possessing action, and both what has become karma and what has not become karma, it does not do, because the reason for that is, the reason is, above, because it is not an agent, therefore for doing, there is no cause, and for doing what is karma, it becomes existent but there is nothing to do, and so on, and for doing both existent and non-existent karma, becoming existent and not becoming existent. And so on, because it is showing the fault. Because both becoming an agent and not becoming an agent are, therefore for becoming karma and not becoming karma, each one does not do, here also, the reason is, the reason is, above, because the agent is both existent and non-existent, therefore for doing, becoming existent and not becoming existent. And so on, and, for doing what is karma, it becomes existent but there is nothing to do. And so on, and, for doing non-karma, for karma, there is no cause. And so on, because it is showing the fault. Therefore, the aggregates of consciousness and so on are inherently existent, because the cause of that, karma and the agent are inherently existent, saying this is unreasonable. Second, if the agent and the object of action do not exist, by holding this firmly, you will be slandering the object, and, the object of action and agent does not exist, that alone exists, it will also become an imputation, if you say so. For you who say that objects are inherently existent, compared to saying that objects were previously existent and later non-existent, there is slander for all objects, because if it is inherently existent, then it is unreasonable to never be non-existent. Because I am born from dependence, I have not ascertained inherent existence for all objects, therefore, which one that exists in ultimate truth and conventional truth has been slandered? Because there is nothing in ultimate truth, and because in conventional truth, everything that arises from dependence is accepted. It also says

In the Garland of Jewels, it says: Thinking "This is water" of a mirage, one goes there, if one thinks that there is no water there, that is a foolish person. Likewise, for the world like a mirage, thinking "exists" or "does not exist," that is a foolish person, and with foolishness, one will not be liberated. From not knowing, first investigate, and later determine its meaning, when things are not visible, how can they become non-things at that time? It is said. Denying the grasping of things as existing by their own nature is like denying the grasping of mirages as water, so it is not slander. When things existing by their own nature are not visible, things do not exist, that is, self-nature does not exist, how can it be established in the ultimate sense? Because in the ultimate sense, no things can exist, so their non-things also do not exist in the ultimate sense. Therefore, all conventional things, which are like the water of mirages, are established only by acknowledging the illusions of worldly people and acknowledging that they are merely caused by conditions, but not by other means, like this. Not doing and not relying on karma, because one cannot be an agent, so Devadatta is an agent, which is done relying on karma, that is, arising relying on it, can be established. If the agent does not do, it cannot become karma, so not only the agent, but also karma arises relying on the agent, can be established, and apart from that, no other cause or means of self-nature establishment is seen. This shows that acknowledging existence by mutual dependence and not acknowledging existence by self-nature distinguishes the difference between the Madhyamaka school and the Realist school in the way of existence of "exists," and also shows the difference in the way of existence of "does not exist." The third is: Just as karma and agent are established only by mutual dependence and are not established by self-nature, likewise, this is taken closely, so it is the near-taking, that is, the object to be taken, and by this it is taken closely, so it is the near-taking, that is, the taker, are also established only by mutual dependence, and it should be known that they are not established by their own self-nature. Furthermore, why is it not established by self-nature? Because by whatever reasoning the reasoning that eliminates the self-nature establishment of karma and agent, by that same reasoning also the object to be taken and the taker are also self-nature
