Because it is the object of grasping, in order to dispel the thought that it is real, the three examples such as dreams are explained in order, as stated in the "Lamp of Wisdom." Second, it is shown that birth, abiding, and cessation are not established by their own nature, but are established by reason, and that they are also in accordance with the definitive meaning scriptures, as well as the explanation of "form is without birth," the explanation of "one should not abide in form," and the explanation of "form does not cease." In order to show that all that is said in the scriptures, this chapter is based on reason, a brief explanation is given of the aspect of combining with the definitive meaning scriptures, as in the "King of Samadhi Sutra": This gathering of skin, veins, flesh, and bones, is mine, after generating the thought that it is a wife, children and ignorant ones generate attachment, like an illusion they do not recognize women. Just as in a young girl's dream, she sees a son born and die, she is happy when he is born and unhappy when he dies, all phenomena should be known in the same way. Like a city of gandharvas, a mirage, like an illusion, like a dream, all phenomena should be known in the same way, meditating on characteristics is empty of inherent nature. It is said. Conditioned and unconditioned are all peaceful, those sages have no discrimination, having obtained the unconditioned in all sentient beings, they are completely peaceful from all views. Those who know such dharmas, are always without attachment, without violence, and without ignorance, their mind naturally abides in equality, they are powerful samadhi strength holders. It is said. Third, birth, abiding, and cessation are not merely established by name, but if they exist as if grasping them as existing by their own nature, then it should be determined that none of the three can be established, as established by reason. After that, those that are merely established by name are very reasonable, and although all conditioned phenomena are empty of inherent nature, they appear as the nature of this and that, and should be practiced as they appear like illusions and dreams. The seventh chapter's good explanation, called "Examination of Birth, Abiding, and Cessation," which has thirty-four verses, is completed. Third, refuting the existence of cause and effect and the agent.

Kapala Three. Explaining the tenets of the treatise, combining with the scriptures of definitive meaning, summarizing the essence and indicating the name. The first part says this: Consciousness and other conditioned dharmas exist by their own nature, because their cause is karma, and the agent of that karma exists. The World Honored One also said that the individual, the person connected with ignorance, also presently creates merit, and also creates non-merit and immovable karma. And so on. It also closely shows the agent of karma and that karma and the resulting consciousness, etc. There are three refutations to this: refuting the inherent existence of karma and agent; establishing the way of establishing karma and agent in conventional terms; applying that reasoning to other aspects as well. The first part has two: refuting the inherent existence of actions and agents of the same category; refuting the inherent existence of actions and agents of the opposite category. The first part has two: refuting the actions and agents of the first and second cases; refuting the actions and agents of the third case. The first part has two: establishing the proposition; showing the proof. The first part is: because this one acts, it is the agent, only doing a little thing is called the agent, not doing is not, and that agent who does things, is also becoming the agent and not becoming the agent, and depending on what they depend on, becoming yes and becoming no, so there are three situations. Because this one is the action, it is the karma, which is the excellent thing that the agent desires. There are also three types, namely becoming karma, not becoming karma, and becoming both yes and no depending on each other. Among them, becoming the agent, having the action, that becoming the karma, that is, having the action not doing, this is the first proposition. Not becoming the agent, being separated from the action, also becoming not karma, that is, being separated from the action not doing, this is the second proposition. The second part has two: the proof of the first proposition, the proof of the second proposition. The first part has two: because if there is karma that no one does, it will become a fault, thereby refuting it; because if there is an agent who does nothing, it will become a fault, thereby refuting it. The first part is: because it is established as the agent for the reason of doing things, only those who have actions can obtain the name of the agent. Like that
