Didn't the Blessed One clearly state that destruction has causes? It means that death is the destruction of sentient beings, and it is said that it arises from the causes and conditions of birth, so it is established that destruction arises from causes. The four characteristics of arising, abiding, decay, and aging are said to be the aggregate of formations. For example, with regard to blue, since blue possesses the four actions of arising, etc., blue can be taken as an example of conditioned phenomena. However, the agent, blue itself, contradicts its own actions, so the four actions are not the form aggregate, nor are they feeling, perception, consciousness, or associated formations, so they are non-revealing forms. However, blue is newly born where it did not exist before, abides in its own time, does not remain beyond its own time and is destroyed, and is also aging, which is a transformation from the previous state, so not all of the arising, etc., of blue are explained as non-revealing forms. The action of destruction of blue also exists in its second moment, and if that is a non-revealing form, it must be produced by its own causes and conditions, so it is established that destruction has causes. The reason why destruction must be posited because it is the action of destruction of blue is that the non-destruction of blue in its own time and the destruction in the second time show that the two are the same in whether or not they are things, so in that case, its destruction will also become its impermanence. The meaning of what is said to be the characteristic of conditioned phenomena is that it is only intended as a symbol for recognizing conditioned phenomena because it possesses those actions. It is not a positing like the swelling of the belly is the characteristic of a pot, because in that case, there would be no momentary positing of impermanence. According to the reasoning that aging and death are caused by birth, the destruction in the second time only depends on the arising in the first time and does not need to depend on others. Therefore, it is easy to establish that things do not remain in the second time and are destroyed in an instant, so in this respect, everything is well established. If one thinks that the destruction of a sprout is non-existent, then what cause does it have? So it has no cause. Then, the sprout also exists, so what need is there for a cause for it? Because what has already arisen cannot be produced again. This is saying that if the destruction of a sprout cannot do anything, then the non-destruction does not need a cause, which is the same assertion.

Therefore, since the non-destruction has already been established, there is no need to make a reason now, but the establishment itself is the reason, so it is said that there is a reason, which is the real answer. However, if this cannot be distinguished, it will become a constant argument. In addition, just as there was no seed before, but later there was, so the generation of the sprout has a cause, and the destruction of the sprout is also because there was no sprout before, but later there was, so there is a cause. If someone asks, what reason does the destruction of the sprout need? This is unreasonable. We also do not want to make other reasons for this, but the destruction of the sprout itself is the reason. If so, will it become real? Yes, it is real in terms of its own nature, but it is not real in terms of the sprout. In addition, the Sutra of Ten Grounds says: Death is also close to two functions, that is, it also makes the aggregates of action perish, and it also produces the cause of continuous ignorance. Therefore, destruction can function, so it has a cause. At these times, the Clear Words says: Saying "destruction" means that one's own destruction is also considered destruction, while the other party believes that destruction and destruction are contradictory, so here it is an explanation of destruction. Sprouts should also be understood as the destruction of other things. Second, for it, the cause of the first moment existing and the second moment destroying has been said. In addition, the cause of continuous destruction is stated in the Commentary on the Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning: Just as the exhaustion of ghee and wick is the cause of the lamp extinguishing. In this regard, the other party said that the exhaustion of ghee and wick is not the cause of the lamp extinguishing, but the exhaustion of ghee and wick is that the last moment of the lamp does not have the conditions to produce the same kind of future. The future is also not produced because the conditions for production are not met. If so, if the conditions are not met, it will definitely be produced. The failure to meet the conditions acknowledges the cause of the future not being produced, therefore, the cause of abiding is exhausted, and it becomes an admission that the abiding of the fruit is also exhausted. The cause of the future that the sprout will produce but is not currently produced is also because the previously existing conditions are exhausted and incomplete. Since the destruction of the sprout is established as real, then the future must also be considered in this way.
