Merely seeing a little, one says there is nothing else. Secondly, if the arising of arising causes the root arising to arise, according to your view, how does the root arising, by the arising of arising that has not previously arisen, cause that root arising to arise or not arise? Because according to your view, the arising of arising must be caused to arise by the root arising. If, according to your view, the arising of arising caused by the root causes the root to arise, how does the arising of arising, by that root that has not previously arisen, cause that arising of arising to arise or not arise? Because that root must be caused to arise by the arising of arising. Therefore, it is unreasonable for these two to establish each other, so it remains infinite. If these two do not cause each other because they arose earlier, but these two are arising, so they cause each other, then, if one can cause another that has not arisen because one has not arisen oneself, then if these two that are arising cause each other, it depends on intention. Sprouts and so on that are arising are future, and since they have not arisen, how can they cause others? This is unreasonable. Thus, stating refutations of arising and the arising of arising is only an example, so for abiding and so on, the six, one should also change their expression and refute them. The second part has two parts: stating the elimination of faults, and refuting it. The first part: if arising and so on, which become infinite from what is promised, do not have other characteristics, and even without them, they will not become uncompounded. What then? Just as a lamp is the nature of light, and therefore makes itself and other things like a vase appear, so too, arising is the nature of arising, and therefore causes both itself and other things to arise. The second part has two parts: refuting the analogy, and refuting the meaning. The first part has two parts: refuting by stating harm to the pledge, and refuting by showing that the reason is uncertain. The first part: making manifest is by dispelling darkness, so what darkness does one dispel to become one's own manifest? A lamp has no darkness, because it is contradictory. The first "is" refers to the basis without darkness.
