It is not good to write in the annotations, because it contradicts the statement in the old translation that the root verses have four hundred and forty-nine stanzas, so it is obvious that it has been mixed up by others. Taking the two lines "Also for desire" as the main text is because the Holy One (referring to Nagarjuna) himself had previously examined whether desire has attachment and then prohibited it, so it is uncertain whether he really said to combine whether there is desire for attachment, so it is mixed into the main text. Therefore, these two sentences are also written in the works of Buddhapalita, but there is no explanation for them in that commentary. Even if there is attachment, the commentary summarizing the meaning of these two verses, and the words summarizing the meaning of the two verses even if there is desire, are very similar, but in the middle of the latter words, it seems that one has inserted these two words, so it is very clear that it is incorrect. In the Lamp of Wisdom and its commentary, it also seems that these two sentences have been inserted, but neither the commentary nor the explanation has explained it, and the meaning is inconsistent, and it seems that it was inserted in one case. In the Clear Word, these two sentences are not there. In From Where It Does Not Decay, these two sentences are taken as the root, and it seems that it has also been explained, which shows the great self-characteristic of that author, and the venerable Aryadeva also quoted the testimony of the Hundred Treatises as a basis, so saying that it is Nagarjuna's work is an unreasonable statement. Second, if the previously mentioned fault lies in the fact that desire and attachment are admitted one after the other, then here, these two only arise simultaneously, that is, the desire that arises simultaneously with the mind makes the mind attached, and that is also attachment, so these two are self-existent, if you say so. In order to refute this, because the two have no dependence, the simultaneous arising is refuted, and the simultaneous arising of one and many is refuted. First, if desire and attachment are self-existent, then they should not arise simultaneously, because in this way, if desire and attachment are self-existent and arise simultaneously, then they will become mutually independent, so they will become unrelated, and if so, there is no reason for inseparable arising. If these two are self-existent, then it must be one of either prior or simultaneous, because the pervasion and the pervaded are prevented.

Since precedence and subsequence are not possible in conventional terms, they are easy to refute. Simultaneity exists in conventional terms, so it cannot be established without distinction. If they exist simultaneously by their own nature, the relationship of mutual dependence can be refuted. Therefore, simultaneous arising does not exist by its own nature, so these two are established as without self-nature. The second part has two points: generally refuting simultaneity on one and different; specifically refuting simultaneity on different. The first point is: for desire and attachment, which are considered to be simultaneous, examine whether they are the same in nature or different in nature. First, if these two are the same in nature, then there is no simultaneity, because a single cow itself is not simultaneous with that cow. If they are different in nature, then how can they become simultaneous? This is impossible, because we have not seen light and darkness, samsara and nirvana, which are different things, existing simultaneously. This is also the same for things that are different in nature in terms of whether or not they exist simultaneously. Buddhapalita refutes by the reason that the incompatible aspects of difference are simultaneous, that is, if they are different in nature, they are separate, and simultaneity is the principle of not being separate. Therefore, simultaneity is not possible on one and different. Refuting the clinging to simultaneity when it is impossible, that is, if desire and attachment are the same, but cling to simultaneity, then a single thing such as a cow without a companion will also become simultaneous. If these two are different in nature, but are also simultaneous, then things such as cows that exist separately without companions will also become simultaneous. The former shows the proof that simultaneity is impossible, and the latter shows the harm to simultaneity. The second part has three points: because it is not established as different, simultaneity cannot be established; if it is established as different, there is no need for simultaneity; if different depends on simultaneity, then it shows mutual dependence. The first point is: if simultaneity is not possible on one, then can simultaneity be established on different? If desire and attachment are different in nature, but cling to simultaneity, then does it mean that desire and attachment are established as different that do not depend on each other? If it is established in this way, then these two will become simultaneous, such as not depending on each other
