It is not that there is nothing, but it is thought that not only are there eyes and celestial gifts, etc., but there is no function such as seeing forms and walking. Our own school thinks that these two are inseparable in the ultimate truth and are both existent in name, so there is no distinction between existence and non-existence. Although the other party thinks that things are not seen through the connection with the function of the eyes, even if it is established in this way, it will not become the fault of being already established, because the meaning of having a function is established in name. If it is thought that the meaning established by the other party is established through commitment, then it is very unreasonable. We are only preventing what is to be prevented, and we are not establishing what is to be established, so we will not establish the reason for "not establishing the meaning of what was previously prevented." Therefore, the so-called "the sign and example commonly known by others are sufficient if they are established in the other party" must also be established by measurement, and it is not enough to just make a commitment. Second, the so-called "seeing by seeing" does not admit that the eye is established as the seer by "seeing." So what is it? It is established that the eye is the function of seeing by "seeing by this," so there will be no fault in examining whether it is related to the function of seeing or not by making the eye the author. Whatever becomes the function of seeing, what this eye sees is the author, and this author can be either the consciousness as perceived by one's own school or the self as perceived by other schools, because it exists, so if there is an author of seeing, then seeing is also established. In this regard, previously, for example, saying, "Who cut down this tree? The axe cut it," just as saying that the axe is the cutter, it is promised, "Who sees things? The eyes see." Here, just as celestial gifts cut down trees with axes, saying that celestial gifts are the cutters and axes are the function, whether it is me or consciousness, it is thought, "This eye sees things," and it is thought that I and consciousness are the seers, and the eye is the function of seeing. In this regard, previously, when preventing the saying that the eye is the seer, "The nature of seeing is..." etc., refuted with reason, and similarly, it should be known that the same reason can be used to distinguish between the two seers, that is, to refute, that is to say, the nature of seeing is... seeing by seeing

Non-existent. If one does not even see oneself, how can one see others? Please translate this passage. Here, it is only assumed that the eye is the seer, or that consciousness is the seer, therefore the refutation is equally applicable. There is another fault as well, if the seer performs the seeing, then it would lead to having three seeings. If the seer is inherently existent, because its function is the seeing of form and action, then, since those two are not inherently existent, how could the seer be inherently existent? If the seer is inherently existent, then it cannot transcend the two, therefore there is no abandonment of seeing, that is, if one wants a seer that depends on it, then it is not inherently existent, does it depend on what is established or what is not established? If it is the former, then it is unreasonable, because what has already been established is not something that needs to be established again, therefore it is unreasonable to depend again. This is also to prevent dependence on what is established by its own character, therefore for it, there will be the fault that what has already been established still needs to be established again, which has been said before. If it is the latter, then dependence is contradictory, like a rabbit's horn. If seeing has been abandoned, that is, there is a seer that does not depend on seeing, then, using the word "also", not only is the existence of a seer that depends on seeing not established, but also the existence of a seer that does not depend on seeing is not established, because it does not depend on others, like a flower in the sky. Buddhapalita refutes by saying that the seer has the action of seeing, if it has it, then the action is not two; if it does not have it, then it is separated from the action of seeing, which is the same meaning as "seeing is not seeing itself." Secondly, when the seer is not inherently existent whether it depends on seeing or not, if the seer does not exist, then how can the seen and the seeing without cause exist? Because they are not inherently existent, by the reason that they exist, how can the seer be established as inherently existent? Here it is said, if the seen and the seeing are inherently existent, because those two have results. Relying on seeing and the seen, consciousness arises, and the aggregation of the three gives rise to contact, and contaminated contact, and what arises simultaneously with contact is feeling, and its condition is craving. Here a verse appears, "How to parents," this verse is not found in the other three Indian commentaries.
