If asked, isn't the example of a sprout growing used as a scale? Although it is used, it has already been said that it does not show the simultaneous occurrence of cause and effect, and even if it doesn't show this, it is not showing the other-origination of earlier and later times, and even if it is not like that, it is thought that one must accept origination as it is said in it. If you think like this, the commentary on the Engaging in the Bodhisattva's Deeds says that it is also not for the sake of showing the origination of one's own characteristics, so although one accepts origination, one does not accept the origination of self-characteristics. So what does it show? It shows the origination that arises instantaneously in dependence, like an illusion, which is established without investigation. The meaning of instantaneously is that the activity of arising and ceasing depends on the same time and the result arises. The later reasoning refutes that if the very sound of the reality of other entities is used to show the meaning, then the absence of self will become the reason for refuting others, and not the reason for refuting origination. Thus, since reasoning harms other-origination, even though it is said that all things arise from the four conditions, other-origination is not the view of the Buddha. This is because he does not accept meanings that contradict reasoning. The intention of the scriptures is that, as it is said, actions arise from the condition of ignorance, etc., which are not ultimate truth, but conventional truth, so even the sutras that say that they arise from the four conditions do not show other-origination. Up to this point, in order to refute other-origination, three reasonings are shown, the first is that other and origination are two things that share the same basis, the second is origination, and the third is that cause and effect are two others, which are refuted through a stable way, and the ways of showing harm are also different, and these must be distinguished. In other situations, it is also necessary to know in the same way. If these are not well distinguished, then the wisdom that investigates suchness will grow slowly, and faith that is guided by seeing the unique qualities possessed by the teacher who shows the definitive meaning and the scholars who explain its meaning will not arise, and in other lifetimes, the habit of not separating from this path will not be very stable, and the agreement of the meaning of showing the absence of self very extensively to the Bodhisattvas will not occur. Therefore, even the slightest gesture of the subtle reasoning of the definitive meaning of this great being should be sought with respectful mind. Second, in three parts: conditions.

The common refutation of the inherent nature of conditions, individual refutations, and the presentation of another way to commonly refute. The first part has two points: refuting the conception of conditions from the perspective of action, and refuting the conception of conditions from the perspective of activity. The first point has two parts: refuting the conception of conditions by the reason of accomplishing the action of arising, and refuting the conception of conditions by the reason of producing the result. The first part is: Those who claim that arising comes from action, our previous refutation of arising is the position that the result actually arises from conditions, and even if this is refuted, it does not harm. Because we do not think that eye and form, etc., actually produce consciousness through conditions, but rather that they accomplish the action of the arising of consciousness, therefore they are called conditions. Because that action also produces consciousness, the action of producing consciousness, endowed with conditions, actually produces consciousness, but not the conditions themselves. For example, it is like the action of cooking rice, thinking that the conditions have a real (ultimate) action, and that action also produces the result. When consciousness is about to arise, consciousness does not exist, but the action of its arising does exist. The action of arising that exists at that time exists in the conditions of eye, etc., and it is also the nature of conditions, so the Sutra School and above admit that it arises from such an action. If there is action without the conditions of eye, etc., at that time, or if there are eye, etc., but consciousness does not actually arise from them, then neither of the two schools admits this. Therefore, it is difficult to say that the two proponents of reality follow the seal of grammarians to argue, and it is reasonable to say it like epistemologists. Although the action of arising at the time of manifestation is the cause of the result, in general, the action of arising is not contradictory to the result and the support and supported of the agent and the object. Just as the impermanence of a conch shell produces the sound of a conch shell, but the sound of a conch shell and impermanence are not contradictory as support and supported. If the action of arising has a substance established by its own nature, then it can be accomplished by conditions and can produce consciousness, but this does not exist. Like this, when you want to have this action when consciousness arises, if consciousness has already arisen, then this action is not needed, because it has already arisen.
