If it cannot be abandoned, then if luminosity exists from the beginning, there is no need to arise, and if it exists from the beginning but still arises, then it remains in an endless state, and if luminosity did not exist before, then the view that only what existed before in the cause can arise collapses. Some particularities of the Samkhya school, although they do not wish to arise, do wish for luminosity, but these reasons can refute them. In the twentieth and twenty-seventh chapters, other reasons for refuting this view are also explained, but this line of reasoning by which Sangyas Kyang refuted with two reasons also appears many times in the treatises. Secondly, here, Sangyas Kyang says that things do not arise from the nature of the self, because their arising would become meaningless and the arising would become endless. To this, Lekden explains that this is unreasonable, because this argument does not state the reason and example that proves the self is unborn, so it is only a promise. Moreover, the Samkhya school believes that the meaning of arising from the self is, if it arises from the nature of the luminosity of the fruit, then it is a redundant proof; if it arises from the nature of the potential of the non-luminous cause, then all living beings can only arise from it, which would create a contradiction, therefore, since the fault pointed out after examining the promise has not been eliminated, it is unreasonable. Moreover, because it is a word that other opponents can seize upon, it is also unreasonable. Although the Commentary translates it as "because it is a word that leads to faults," the Lamp of Wisdom translates it as "because it is a word that can be seized upon," and the commentary also explains it in this way, therefore, this is also an unreasonable reason. How does it become something that can be seized upon? That is because it is contrary to the meaning of the argument at the time. The way it becomes a word that can be seized upon because it is contrary to the meaning of the time is: because the statement "things do not arise from the nature of the self" reveals the opposite meaning of what is to be proven, that things arise from others; and because it reveals the opposite meaning of the dharma that is to be proven, that arising is meaningful and finite, so there is a fault of contradicting one's own tenets, they say. Even if meaningful and endless are not reasons, if self-arising exists, then even if meaningful and endless cannot be used as reasons, because if it is established on the basis of the argument, then the conclusion to be proven must be established. Therefore, the opposite

The two are reasons. If it is necessary to refute an established reason, then it is also necessary to refute the established thesis, because the two are the same. Therefore, since it is not possible to do as refuting the reason, the meaning of refuting is not merely the negation of self-origination. This is not a refutation of the reason of the consequence, because (the opponent) says that what is to be established is to be refuted, and it is not said that the absence of self-origination is the reason. At that time, because birth is meaningful, things are not merely the negation of self-origination, but will arise from other. If this is the case, then the meaning of "not from self" is merely the thesis of negating self-origination, which contradicts the tenets. The commentary explains that this contradicts the tenets of not accepting other-origination and birth as meaningful in the words of the teacher. If one wants to posit birth as meaningless as the reason, then it is unreasonable to say that the reason is not stated. Because this can establish the absence of self-origination, it is considered that the reason is not stated, so it is not contradictory to his view. Third, the way in which speaking in this way is prevented by Chandrakirti is: Also, if it is said that birth is meaningful and that the two are contradictory, then self-origination can be refuted by inference, and if it cannot, then even if one establishes a Svātantrika, it cannot, so there is no need to state the example and reason of the Svātantrika. Since the Madhyamikas should not accept Svātantrika, there is no need to refute the faults stated by others regarding the thesis and reason of the Svātantrika. Even so, since it is necessary to state the contradiction by means of inference known to the Samkhyas themselves, the examples, reasons, and theses known to other opponents must be free from their faults, and since the faults have not been eliminated, they will become the previous faults. For all opponents, it is not necessary to state what is known to others, and even if it is necessary to state it to some, it has been stated. Buddhapālita said that for what exists in itself, there is no need for rebirth, which is equivalent to the words of the explanation of those etc., so existence is the reason, and rebirth is meaningless is what is to be established. Therefore, since the similar example with both the reason and the property is also taken as known to others, why say that the example and reason are not stated? The example is that one does not want the already manifest vase to be manifest again, and the non-manifestation of the nature of the ability is what is to be established by preventing birth.
