If one clings to these and so on, other dharmas will be thrown into the realm of reason, thus non-affirming negation becomes something to be proven and something to be measured. Therefore, the direct action of reason cannot establish the existence of selflessness. However, the existence of selflessness is understood through implication, and it must also be established through reason, if you think so. Then, words like "a sprout is selfless" must also imply the existence of selflessness, because the wisdom that follows that word implies its existence. Therefore, not only is the object of negation cut off, but other dharmas are also implicitly thrown out, so the claim that non-affirming negation is negating negation is untenable. Furthermore, the statement "a fat person does not eat during the day" establishes that a fat person has the cause for eating. The time for eating is fixed as day and night, and the negation of eating during the day actually implies eating at night, which is the implication of that word and the object of that wisdom. However, the direct power similar to that, the word "a sprout is selfless" does not appear in the mind, so there is no reason for implicit understanding. Even so, without relying on other intervening valid cognitions, but relying on the power of reason, it is possible to generate wisdom that directly contradicts the superimposition and the way of grasping that hold onto the non-existence of selflessness. And, it itself can cut it off, so relying on reason can cut off superimposition, but reason does not cut off that superimposition. To illustrate this with an example, when a valid cognition arises that ascertains the three aspects of establishing sound as impermanent, without relying on other intervening valid cognitions, but relying on its power, it is possible to generate wisdom that directly contradicts the superimposition and the way of grasping that hold onto the permanence of sound, but the impermanence of sound is not established through the implication of the previous valid cognition, and the superimposition of holding onto the permanence of sound is not cut off by the previous valid cognition. Therefore, in the Commentary on Valid Cognition, it says: "Sound is produced, all such things, are said to be impermanent, and in reality, it turns into a thought of destruction." Although it is said that in reality it is an implication, it is similar to not being an implicit understanding. If the meaning of the existence of selflessness is the object observed by valid cognition, and it is also established through reason, therefore it is established through the meaning of existence, and the three aspects are not the meaning to be established, therefore they are not the same. To this, the Madhyamikas in conventional terms

Those who accept self-awareness hold that the absence of inherent existence, which is the object of valid cognition, is established by the power of self-awareness that experiences the object. However, they consider self-awareness to be a nominal valid cognition, not established by reasoning. Chandrakirti also does not believe that existence is established by reasoning, because reasoning can only find one of the meanings of whether something exists or not, or whether it is or is not. If it finds existence by reasoning, it becomes truly established. He also does not believe that it is established by the power of self-awareness. If not, how is it established? Here, the characteristic of valid cognition is non-deception, which is recognized as it is established in the world. In the world, without distinguishing between new deception and non-deception, non-deception is generally established as valid cognition. Therefore, it is evident that the decisive consciousnesses, etc., brought about by direct perception without conceptualization are also accepted as valid cognition. Therefore, there is also direct perception in the valid cognition of conceptualization, because the object of decisive consciousness is established as manifest, and therefore it is not deceptive to the manifest. Since the absence of inherent existence is established as the basis, there is no examination of the meaning of existence or non-existence and terminology, so it is not established by signs. Without relying on signs, it can also cut off the superimposition of holding the absence of inherent existence as non-existent, so the existence of the absence of inherent existence is manifest. However, since existence is manifest, the absence of inherent existence is hidden. However, when established by valid cognition, the existence of the absence of inherent existence is manifest. For example, momentariness is hidden, so sound and blue are manifest, but those two are like momentariness being hidden. Therefore, the nominal mind that is certain of existence is also not deceptive to the manifest, so it is direct perception. From this, it should also be known that when the absence of inherent existence of sprouts, etc., is understood by reasoning, how the appearance of sprouts appears as the absence of inherent existence is also established. Second, here, if the absence of inherent existence of sprouts, etc., is established by reasoning, it will eventually be seen as becoming tolerable to be examined by reasoning to the end, so some say that the absence of true existence is truly established. Others distinguish between reasoning and the reversal of inferential valid cognition, saying that the former has no object and the latter has an object. However, both are unreasonable. Thus, examining whether sprouts, etc., truly exist is
