Those sentient beings are like dreams. Sons of gods, thus, illusions and sentient beings are non-dual, they are indivisible. Thus, dreams and sentient beings are non-dual, they are indivisible. Sons of gods, (the Buddha) said that all phenomena are like illusions and dreams. Those who have entered the stream and those who come once, those who do not return and the Arhats, and their four fruits are also said in this way, that is, it shows that the person and the fruit of his lineage are all without self-nature. Then, (the Buddha) also said in this way the solitary Buddha and the solitary Buddha himself, and the perfect Buddha and the Buddha himself, which shows that the person and his Dharma are both without self-nature. Then, will the venerable Subhuti also say that the perfectly complete Buddha is also like an illusion and a dream? Will the perfectly complete Buddha himself also say that it is like an illusion and a dream? Subhuti said: Sons of gods, if I say that Nirvana is also like an illusion and a dream, then what more needs to be said about other dharmas? The sons of gods said: Venerable Subhuti, do you say that Nirvana is also like an illusion and a dream? Subhuti said: Sons of gods, if I could say that there is a dharma that is more excellent than Nirvana, then it is also like an illusion and a dream. Thus, dreams and Nirvana are non-dual, they are indivisible. The third is: If all dharmas are established by their own nature, then all the establishments of the Tathagata and his dharmas cannot be established. Therefore, the dependent arising of emptiness can make all establishments very reasonable, so it is also very reasonable to establish the Tathagata as a refuge, etc., only in this way. The examination of the Tathagata is the nature of the sixteen verses, which is the explanation of the twenty-second chapter. Second, refuting the inherent existence of afflictions is divided into three: explaining the doctrine of the treatise, matching it with the meaning of the scriptures, summarizing the meaning and indicating the name. The first is: Here it is said that the cause of existence is inherently existent, because its cause is inherently existent. Here are the afflictions.

From existence, karma arises, and the fruits of karma and afflictions, birth and death, pass from one to the other, also arise, and that is the continuum of existence. The main cause is affliction, for if that is abandoned, even if there is karma, the continuum of existence will cease. If afflictions were inherently existent, then the continuum of existence would also come about inherently, but it does not exist, therefore there are two negations. Negating that afflictions are inherently existent. Negating its proof, that is, negating that the means of abandoning afflictions are inherently existent. The first has five. Negating by way of the reason of dependent origination. Negating by way of the reason that the basis is not inherently existent. Negating by way of the reason that the cause is not inherently existent. Negating by way of the reason that the object is not inherently existent. Negating by way of another reason that the cause is not inherently existent. The first is: In the Sutra Pitaka, it is said that desire, hatred, and delusion arise from improper conceptualization. It is said in the sutra: Desire, your root is, know, arises from conceptualization. This is because it comes from the Sutra Pitaka. Only three poisons are mentioned because all other afflictions are the result of these three, so these three are the main ones. That is, desire arises from relying on the aspect of attractiveness, hatred arises from relying on the aspect of unattractiveness, and delusion arises from relying on perversion, and conceptualization is the common cause of these three. In the Sutra of Dependent Origination, it is said: What is the cause of ignorance? It is improper attention. It is also said that delusion arises from impure attention. Therefore, it is known that delusion arises from conceptualization. Those that arise from relying on attractive objects, unattractive objects, and perversion, those are not inherently existent. If attachment and so on were inherently established, then it would be inherently unconditioned and would not depend on other causes and conditions. If it does not arise from relying on attractive objects and so on, then it should not arise from relying on attractive objects and so on now. Therefore, those afflictions such as desire are not truly existent, that is, they do not exist in the ultimate sense and are not inherently existent. This shows that when negating, if one does not add distinctions such as "truly," it is not permissible, and it is the same for others. Delu
