If it does not exist by its own nature, then how can the aggregates become the object of others by depending on it? It will not become so. Fourth, since self-entity and other entities do not exist by their own essence, therefore, apart from self-nature and other entities, what is that Tathagata established by its own nature? There is none. The purpose of this treatise is to enter into the understanding that all things arise dependently and are contrary to existing by their own characteristics, but this chapter also repeatedly and clearly shows that meaning. Second, for those who say, "The Tathagata, who cannot be said to be the same as or different from the aggregates, is designated as dependent on the aggregates," who are respected by many, they believe that the Tathagata is the taker and his aggregates are the taken, established by their own characteristics. At that time, if, like Lha byin taking wealth with previously established wealth, if there were some Tathagatas before the aggregates without relying on the aggregates, then this could rely on the aggregates, and only after relying on the aggregates could it become its taker. If we examine it, the aggregates are not relied upon at all, that is, there was no Tathagata before that, because there is no cause to be designated as the Tathagata. If the Tathagata does not rely on the aggregates, that is, if it does not exist before that, then how can that Tathagata take the aggregates by its own nature? It will not take them. In this way, since there is not even a little taking of the aggregates by its own nature, it is unreasonable to say that the Tathagata exists by its own essence by relying on the aggregates. Since the Tathagata did not exist before, therefore the taker is not taken by its own nature even a little, how can the aggregates become the taken by their own nature? It will not become so. When at that time, because no one takes by their own nature, the aggregates to be taken will not become the taken by their own nature, at that time, there is no Tathagata who takes by their own nature, and there is nothing established by its own nature. Third, as said before, when examining and searching in five ways, where is there one with the aggregates?

Since self-nature does not exist in one or the other, how can the Tathagata, in whom self-nature does not exist in the three of dependence and the dependent, be established by the aggregates as existing by nature? It cannot be established. The second point is that this analysis not only shows that the Tathagata is not established by nature, but also that the five aggregates, such as form and feeling, which are taken, are not self-existent, because they are dependent origination, and the existence of self-nature has already been extensively refuted in the analysis of the aggregates. If it is said that although the aggregates are not self-existent without depending on others, they exist by nature depending on other causes and conditions? If something does not exist from its own entity, that is, from its own nature, without depending on others, then it is impossible for it to exist by nature from other causes and conditions, because self-establishment and the need to depend on others are contradictory. Alternatively, because they depend on the taker, the objects to be taken are not established by their own nature. If this is the case, then it becomes dependent on the taker. If an object to be taken is not established by its own nature, how can it exist by nature from the things of another taker? The third point is that, as mentioned earlier, both the object to be taken and the taker are empty in all respects because they are not established by their own characteristics. Thus, since the object to be taken is empty of self-existence, how can the Tathagata, who is empty of self-existence, be established as self-existent? It will not be established. Therefore, it is unreasonable to say that the Tathagata, who is nominally designated in dependence on the aggregates, exists by nature. The second point is, alas! We have abandoned other teachers such as the Jains and have taken refuge in the Tathagata and are seeking liberation. In this way, by saying "the taken, the taker," etc., that it is without self-nature, you have cut off our hope of liberation. Therefore, arguing with you, who uproots the medicinal tree of the Tathagata, is enough now.
