Okay. Furthermore, the reason why a pot is different from a cloth is also because it depends on the cloth. Therefore, the pot is not essentially different from the cloth, and this is specifically for individual cases. The second part is divided into two points: eliminating the fault of uncertainty, and eliminating the fault of non-establishment. The first point is: If the pot is different from the cloth, and it depends on the cloth and also relies on it, and it is also essentially different, then what is the problem? If the pot as the "other" is essentially different from the cloth as the "other", then, in this case, even without relying on the cloth, just the pot itself, the term "different from the cloth" could be used, which is impossible. These two situations, namely depending on the cloth and not depending on the cloth, are directly contradictory. The reason why the pot is different from the cloth is because it depends on the cloth, and if this "other" is established by its own essence, then it will be independently established by virtue of its own essence, which is contradictory to depending on others. This is unreasonable, because if it does not depend on the cloth, the pot cannot be different from the cloth. Therefore, the pot is not essentially different from the cloth, and this is a refutation. These reasons come from the *Hundred Treatises*: That which arises in dependence on something, cannot be autonomous. All of this is without autonomy, therefore, the self (svabhāva) does not exist. Here it is explained that "self" refers to the svabhāva established by its own essence. The commentary here says that the reason why the pot is different from the cloth is because it depends on the cloth, but the establishment of the pot's essence does not depend on the cloth. Therefore, the differences between dependent establishment and non-dependent establishment must be distinguished. The uncommon reasoning that runs through from beginning to end is a difficult point, so it must be repeatedly contemplated. If you do not admit any "other" at all, then how can it be said that "the other depends on the other"? Because this is the "other" that is established by mutual dependence, therefore, it is based on conventional speech that it is called "other". Buddhapalita also said: "It is said to be 'other' according to worldly conventions." The commentary here says: In conventional truth, if the pot and the cloth are said to be different, then why not say that the soil and the sprout are also different? The answer is: Worldly people consider the pot and the cloth to be different.

As such, the difference of not clinging to other sprouts is said to be: just as co-emergent wisdom clings to the separate existence of pot and pillar as established by their own nature, the meaning of not clinging to sprouts is not that pot and pillar exist in name, but sprouts do not. The reason why co-emergent wisdom does not cling to the separate existence of the cause and effect of the proximate cause as established by their own nature has already been explained. Although the pot and pillar are not established by their own nature even in name, only the other exists in name, because the saying that the pot is other than the pillar is said in dependent origination, and both commentaries also say that it exists in name. For the six consciousnesses and the six sense objects such as eye and form, the reason for the non-existence of the other established by its own nature is that the meeting of self-established nature is the main meaning of negation. The reason for that is that if the other is other than the other, and what depends on what, etc., are established, then the six consciousnesses are other, and the sense objects and roots are other, so it must be shown as dependent arising, so the causes and effects are also only other. If it is not like that, then they are neither one nor different, so they cannot be established. If one and different are not contradictory only existence, then for true existence, it is also impossible to establish that it must be either one or many of true existence. So, will there be other-origination in name? Here, in the commentary on the "Entering the Middle Way", it is said that the tenets of the sutras and commentaries are explained by the classification of the three natures according to one's own system, so other-dependence must also be accepted in name, but it is not the same as other-origination. The meaning of other-origination and the desire for name is: does the result arise from itself or from another? It is done after being examined by the proponents of tenets, and even so, it is not examining whether the result arises from itself and the other only as the other, but examining whether one's own nature is the other, so for the arising of the other by one's own nature, the name of other-origination is established, and the name of other-dependence is to dispel the idea that the result arises independently, it is only made for the independence of becoming a cause and condition, and only the other is not pervaded by the other established by its own nature.
