Because of arising. Therefore, suffering should not be said to be made by me. Secondly, if these aggregates at the time of death are different in nature from the aggregates of arising, and if the aggregates belonging to arising are also different in nature from the aggregates at the time of death, then these other aggregates of the present will create the aggregates of the future, and it will become that suffering is made by others, which is unreasonable. If it exists as other by its own nature, the relationship of cause and effect will not exist. As it will be explained, "depending on what, what arises," and so on. The two half-verses are translated in Buddhapalita and the Lamp of Wisdom as: Those others made this, suffering will be made by others. This translation is correct. The second part has two points: refuting self-creation, refuting other-creation. The first point is: if suffering itself creates suffering, then it cannot be said that suffering is made by me, because it is oneself who creates one's own suffering. It is not that others create it and give it to this, so it is said that suffering is made by me. If a human self creates the suffering that belongs to the human self, then what else is there other than the suffering that the person who created the suffering has created? It must be said separately that this is suffering and this is the creator of suffering, and then it can be said that this created that, but it is not reasonable to say that. If it is thought that the person who has the suffering of humans creates the suffering of the gods, then that person is not me creating my suffering, but the suffering of others is created by others. If it is said that the aggregates of the two people are different, but the person is not different, that is also unreasonable, because the person cannot be indicated other than by the aggregates. The second point is: if a human being does not create the suffering of humans, but creates the suffering of the gods who are born as gods, and then gives it to the self of the gods, and the suffering of the gods also establishes the gods, then, if the human being is different from the god

If suffering arises from Īśvara, how can that person, the Īśvara to whom another person gives that suffering after creating it, exist apart from the suffering that is given? It is impossible. If the suffering of Īśvara arises from another person, then by what suffering does one establish that other person who creates the suffering of Īśvara and gives it to another Īśvara, the one who receives it? What is there other than the suffering he himself receives? There is nothing else. If the giver and the receiver exist by their own nature, then it must be possible to find them as being different in nature from the suffering they themselves receive, but this cannot be found. The verse refuting the person who gives does not appear in Buddhapālita and the Lamp of Wisdom, but in the Clear Words, explanations are made separately for both. Furthermore, if the suffering created by the person himself is established by its own nature, then the suffering created by others should also be established by its own nature. But since the suffering created by oneself is not established as existing by its own nature, as previously explained, how could those sufferings be created by others? It cannot be established. The reason for this is that the suffering created by others is created by the self of that other person. If that person did not create that suffering, then how could the suffering of Īśvara be created by others? This is what is said in Buddhapālita, and the meaning is the same as in the Clear Words. Thirdly, for the time being, suffering is not created by oneself, because suffering itself does not create itself, because it is contradictory to act on oneself. If one says that that suffering is created by another who exists by his own nature, how could that be? It is impossible. Because that other who is examined as "acting by another" is not created by the self, that is, it is not established by its own nature, but depends on other causes and conditions. In Buddhapālita it is said that suffering is created by the person himself, and considering that the person is not other than suffering, suffering creates suffering. It is also said that that person creates that suffering, and considering that that suffering is not suffering, suffering is created by another. The first line refers to a single person who does not receive.
