It should be understood through the way of whether or not the selflessness is determined. In the chapter on establishing valid cognition, only the selflessness of persons is explained, which is done to accommodate the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas who only seek liberation from samsara. There, it is also explained that the obscuration of knowledge is the non-afflicted ignorance that is unclear about the sixteen aspects such as impermanence. The main object of focus on the path to enter the Mahayana is the selflessness of phenomena, and its refutations are determined in the chapter on direct perception. The second part is the explanation of the reasons for things and for inferring the possibility of omniscience. The first part is: 'Liberation will occur through the view of emptiness, the remaining meditation is for that purpose.' As it is said, the remaining aspects are the limbs of complete purification as the cause of the means of generating wisdom that realizes selflessness. This is because by eliminating the superimpositions that are inverted on the origin and so on, one becomes accustomed to selflessness. If the nature of the four noble truths is elaborated, then each one has sixteen, four by four. For example, the opposite of the four aspects of the origin is clinging to no cause, etc., which is the origin of its expression. And the result of realizing these, the wisdom path of the four aspects of suffering and origin, and the cessation of being separated from the seeds of the four superimpositions by becoming accustomed to it. Likewise, it should also be understood for the remaining truths. The sixteen superimpositions are the four superimpositions of clinging to purity, happiness, permanence, and self in suffering, and clinging to suffering as having no cause in the origin, and also clinging to incompatible things as causes, and also clinging to only one cause, and also clinging to the sound of Brahma's transformation, and the four superimpositions of clinging to the mind of Ishvara and others as being made first, and clinging to the wrong path of liberation, annihilation, and clinging to some of the contaminated differences of non-pacified afflictions as liberation, and clinging to liberation that is superior to the cessation of suffering, and the four superimpositions of clinging to temporary liberation but also never being able to liberate forever, and for the path, also clinging to no path of liberation, and clinging to the wisdom that realizes selflessness as not being the path of liberation, and clinging to it as being on the wrong path to the reality of the object, and the four superimpositions of clinging to it as not being able to make suffering cease forever.
