There is no other way than to rely on it, and even the expounder has no way to ascertain it beforehand by the power of extremely obscure valid cognition ( प्रमाण ,pramāṇa,measure). Therefore, in cases such as "the commitment is the sign of the result," it is not mentioned in any context of arguments of faith other than what is taught. If one asks: That is unreasonable, because treatises such as "the relationship and the method of conformity" have identified the scripture to be committed to, and have extensively explained how to infer that it does not deceive what it teaches, then one must understand the meaning of these. There, taking the example of the Buddha's teachings, the reality of the four noble truths, which does not deceive, it is clearly explained that even for extremely obscure things, a correct argument can be inferred without deception, and this does not go beyond the argument of faith. Secondly, the three arguments are distinguished from the perspective of what is to be proven, not from the perspective of valid cognition ( प्रमाण ,pramāṇa,measure) that determines the three modes, because all of them must ultimately be determined by the valid cognition ( प्रमाण ,pramāṇa,measure) of the power of reality. Therefore, the argument for proving extremely obscure things is called faith; the argument for proving things established only by signs and intentions is called fame; and the argument for proving things that enter through the power of reality is called the argument of the power of reality. The determination of scripture purified by the three examinations, although in the case of the extremely obscure, it is possible to determine by the valid cognition ( प्रमाण ,pramāṇa,measure) of the power of reality that there is no contradiction between before and after, and direct and indirect, however, individual extremely obscure things cannot be determined by the power of reality. Secondly, the establishment of the system of the argument of fame: In general, for things attached by concepts, there are two cases: those established and not established by valid cognition ( प्रमाण ,pramāṇa,measure). The first case, one cannot merely follow intention, but rather abides in the power of reality, such as the difference between what is made and impermanent. What merely follows intention is the thing established by fame, for which there is the establishment of the thesis and the proof of the mode. First, if it exists in the realm of concepts, then the sound of the moon can be spoken, just like camphor, the one with the rabbit also exists in the realm of concepts. Second, the property of the subject, is implicitly established by self-awareness manifest, the direct experience of the concept of the one with the rabbit is the concept of the one with the rabbit.

Because existence on the object is naturally established. To establish pervasion: whatever follows mere desire, that pervades as it can apply to all things, like self-willed conceptualization. The sound called "moon" also follows mere desire. This is because its homogeneous pervasion is naturally established by self-cognizance manifest. When explaining the distinctions of eliminators, although reliable inference and fame are not outside of inference, distinguishing them from mere inference is to show the difference in objects, because the object to be measured of inference is taken as the basis, and reliable reliance on scripture is the difference in the object of inference, and following mere desire is to know the difference in the object of inference of fame. Therefore, it is said: direct perception, meaning, and inference, reliable fame are self-established. It has been said. Although there is much to say about these, I will not elaborate further than this. This presentation of just a facet of the previously explained gate of reasoning is to dispel the wrong conceptions of those with little intellectual capacity who are confused about how to analyze the knowable as it is and how many things there are, and who rely solely on scripture, thereby greatly diminishing the immaculate reasoning of the great master, father and sons. For this purpose, my guru, the Lion of Men, who has the eye to see all aspects of knowledge through the gate of immaculate reasoning, and especially the great being who understands the interdependent dharmas of outer and inner as reflections of the moon in water from the moment they appear, the rough parts of the speech of the glorious Lozang Drakpa that are fixed in mind were written as notes by the logician Dharma Rinchen. May this cause the precious doctrine to flourish and spread in all directions and times, and may it last long! May there be auspiciousness! The victorious lotus grove has the fragrance of benefit and happiness, the essence of the nectar of explanation, practice, prosperity, and liberation. For the sake of benefiting all beings, from the great monastery of Dege Lhundrub Teng (德格), may this rain of dharma giving spread. May there be auspiciousness! The great notes on epistemology that Gyaltsab Dharma Rinchen heard in the presence of the Lord.
