It is impossible to have a valid cognition that determines a place, because permanent and real things cannot change at any time or place. The main contradiction based on liberation is wanting to attain liberation from the cessation of suffering, while believing that all forms of self-grasping are not necessarily to be abandoned. Therefore, as it is said, "Whoever abandons the self, until then will wander in samsara," if there is self-grasping, even if one does not want suffering, it will strongly generate suffering. Third, the reason why this treatise on reasoning extensively explains the reasoning for proving impermanence, but does not extensively explain the reasoning for proving selflessness, is that the very certainty that conditioned phenomena are impermanent is the supreme method for thoroughly training the continuum of certainty of selflessness. Moreover, the negation of permanence and reality itself eliminates the basis for the self that other schools assert, because they have already accepted that permanence and reality pervade it. Second, what is the need for not presenting the four noble truths in the order of cause and effect, but presenting them in reverse? Since all four noble truths should be known, why is it shown that only suffering is to be known, and how is it that the path, which should also be attained, is shown as only cessation to be realized? It is also unreasonable to show cessation in the three times, because from the moment one develops a desire to be separated from suffering, one should develop a desire to realize separation from it. It should be explained that although there are many ways, such as the order of cause and effect, and the order of explanation that is presented in an easy-to-understand way, here it is presented in the order of the manifestation of the object, because the manifestation of suffering arises first, and the manifestation of the path arises last. Although all four noble truths should be known, if one does not first know suffering from the perspective of its faults, one will not generate the desire to abandon the origin, and from knowing suffering, one must generate the desire to abandon the origin. Suffering should also be abandoned, but if one does not abandon the cause, the origin, one will not be able to abandon it even if one wants to, so one must first abandon the cause, so it is shown that the origin is to be abandoned. The path should also be attained, but in the realm of cessation, nirvana, the path is also abandoned, so it is shown that cessation is to be realized. Realizing cessation

Wanting (to attain) arises in both situations, but knowing that it can be achieved (attainment) does not arise in the third situation, so it is shown there. To understand this, it is necessary to first understand the ability to abandon all sources. The realization of cessation must also be seen as dependent on familiarity with the path, so the practice of the path is shown in the fourth time. That is, "The ocean of suffering has no end, and does not exist in any way. Child, you are drowning in this, why does fear not arise?" As it is said, the necessity of explaining the faults of suffering is that after fully recognizing the flaws of samsara, one thinks that there is no way to escape from it, thereby generating strong renunciation and sorrow. When the desire to break away from samsara arises, it cannot be broken away like pulling out a thorn, but must be stopped by blocking the cause. Because seeing that sometimes attachment to causeless arising is harmful, it is determined that there is a cause. And the cause is divided into two types: permanent and impermanent. If it is permanent, it cannot be reversed, because if the cause exists in this way, there will be no phenomenon of the result changing. Just like that. The root of the impermanent cause is clinging to the self of a person, from which other afflictions arise, and these afflictions accumulate karma, thereby forming samsara, and the relationship between cause and effect will inevitably occur. For example, from clinging to the self of a person, attachment to the self arises, from which attachment to the happiness of the self arises, from which attachment to the means of achieving the happiness of the self, such as power, etc., arises, because it is seen that without relying on other things, the self cannot obtain happiness by its own power. From this, in order for the self's things (power, etc.) to achieve happiness like a slave, the three doors of body, speech, and mind manifest actions. From good and bad karma, the aggregates of good and bad destinies are formed, as it is said, "Whoever sees me," etc. If it is understood that a person is merely a designation on the aggregates, there will be no excessive error, just as mistaking a colored rope for a snake will cause fear, but if it is understood that it is merely a designation, fear will not arise. Through the reasoning that will be explained below, it will be understood that it is possible to abandon attachment to the self.
