To say, "When fire exists, smoke does not arise, so cause and effect are neither one nor different entities," is like what is said in the Catuhsataka: "If one incorrectly views the continuum, one will think that permanence exists." This is merely a mistaken conception of not knowing how to establish the collection continuum. If that is the case, it is impossible to arise by its own nature, because it is impossible to arise from self, other, both, and without a cause. If the non-existence of arising from other is not established, then it is contradictory that cause and effect are not different entities. Furthermore, if one can negate cause and effect as different entities with just that reasoning, then the eastern and western particles of blue will also become non-different entities, because the western particle is not in the location of the eastern particle, and the eastern particle is not in the location of the western particle. If one thinks that although they are not mixed in their respective locations, they are different entities on top of one collection, then even though fire and smoke are not mixed in time, they are different entities on top of one continuum, so they can be compared until the end of the kalpa. Therefore, although fire and smoke are not cause and effect in their respective times, they exist as cause and effect on top of the same continuum in which both exist as parts, and it is also necessary to determine from the continuum by direct perception that determines cause and effect, because in this way, first both fire and smoke are perceptible or imperceptible, then fire is perceived, then smoke is perceived, then fire is not perceived, then it is established from not perceiving smoke. It must be determined as a continuous existence, and if the continuum of fire is not perceived when smoke is perceived, then it is unreasonable to say "then fire is not perceived," and if the continuum of smoke does not remain when fire is perceived or not perceived, then it is unreasonable to say "smoke is not perceived" after fire is not perceived. If cause and effect are not established in relation to the continuum, then the direct perception of the senses will not establish cause and effect, because experience has proven that it cannot use its own power to lead to the determination of momentary indivisibility and partless atoms. Some people who cannot explain well the meaning of the commentary on the Ornament for Clear Realization, the Don gsal, think that according to the system of the two kinds of Realists, if it is a collection continuum, then it is established only conventionally, and they do not think that it is established ultimately. To say these things is, in the commentary on the Equality of Samsara and Nirvana, the system of the two kinds of Realists is recorded.

It is a mistake due to not distinguishing the boundaries of ultimate and conventional. If so, when the proponent of meaning argues with the Madhyamaka, the cause and effect of giving rise to the fruit of happiness based on giving and keeping the precepts should not be valid either. Because they are empty of true nature. This argument is actually a denial of the fundamental tenets by the proponent of meaning himself. According to your view, the fundamental tenets of the two proponents of meaning hold that cause and effect are not truly established. If the Madhyamaka turns around and throws back the consequence, then the proponent of meaning must directly admit the three spheres. There is much to be said about this, but let it be put aside for now. Now, let's explain the meaning of the text, that is, since it is not possible to establish that sound is impermanent in one's own system, establishing that sound is impermanent is a negation. To say this is not to understand the system of contradiction, that is, based on mutually exclusive contradiction, does real contradiction exist or not? If it does not exist, then establishing one's own view cannot directly negate its opposite, and refuting the views of others cannot directly establish its opposite, because it is impossible for a contradiction to exist where all three are broken. If so, then all terms of negation and establishment should not be valid. If it is like the first case, it is enough to commit to any one branch, why say "it is a negation"? What is the need for addition? Just as the "made" that is presented as a reason is included in any one of the cases of whether sound is or is not, but when it is presented as a reason, it is not necessary to say "it is a made that has become sound" or "it is a made that has become non-sound." All of this is just a system of mistaken conceptualizations, and if they say "we do not admit that sound is permanent or impermanent," then how can one prevent admitting that sound is both permanent and impermanent? Because it is impossible for three to exist in real contradiction, establishing that sound is impermanent is itself a negation of permanence, so it is not appropriate to admit both. If you say so, then for you too, it is impossible for three to exist in mutually exclusive real contradiction, so negating that sound is permanent is itself establishing that sound is impermanent, so it is also unreasonable not to admit both. Furthermore, when asked whether sound exists or not, one cannot generally commit to "it exists" except to add "it exists in the presence of a valid cognizer."
