The so-called "pervasion" refers to the absence of a determined pervasion, because it pervades what has been determined, and this (pervasion) does not exist here. And the term "suchness" indicates that it does not preclude the meaning of conventional terms, so it is not excluded by one's own words. Otherwise, what is vowed would contradict one's own words. For example, expressing one's own nature and so on with words cannot show that those are not the meanings of words. Because no matter which word is used to approximate one's own nature and so on, those will be acknowledged as the meanings of words, and the vowed will be negated again, so it is excluded by one's own words. Therefore, in order to clarify the vow and reason of what is said, "clarifying words are not expression," this will also become a refutation. Because we do not slander the meaning of words in all cases, because this is widely known among cowherds. In the commentary on the first chapter, the teacher Shakya Blo also explained it in the same way more than once. Furthermore, if the manifestation of the cow itself can be truly established, then the mind of clinging will not be confused. In the case where the mind is not confused, it is impossible for two dharmas to appear as if they are pervaded by a common point, so either the commonly manifested substances are different, or the manifested things become one substance. If the manifestation of the cow itself is the same as the substance, then the manifested things will also become one substance with each other, which is completely upside down. The second point is that, therefore, through the discourse of "Therefore, things are uncertain and dependent," etc., it is shown that the object of negation and affirmation is not self-characterized, but it is not shown that self-character is not the object of negation and affirmation. Because valid cognition needs to actually perform many affirmations and negations. To say that self-character cannot be the basis of negation and affirmation is self-contradictory, because the word itself throws away the possibility of self-character being the basis of negation and affirmation, and the opposite of "non-existence" is, how do you want to return from non-existence. This will also contradict this meaning. Therefore, for the conceptual mind that performs negation and affirmation,

The situation is like this: In the thought that ascertains sound as the subject, the nature of sound appears as newly arisen from non-existence, but not as manifested by fabrication and impermanence. Then, in the thought that ascertains sound as fabricated, after the nature of sound has been established, the nature of fabrication appears as newly arisen from non-existence, and that itself appears as dependent on sound. When ascertaining impermanence, it also appears that after fabrication has been established, the nature of impermanence appears as newly arisen from non-existence. Therefore, if the objects of those thoughts were established in ultimate truth, then the ascertainment that ascertains sound would become an establishment on the object of ascertainment. If so, from the very moment of ascertaining sound, all the qualities of sound would necessarily be ascertained, and from the very moment of eliminating the imputation of not being sound, all imputations directed at sound would be eliminated. This is what is being shown. If it is not so, then "for things," and so on. Furthermore, if the object of ascertainment were established in ultimate truth, it would have to be established as it appears. If so, the nature of the three, sound, fabrication, and impermanence, would become established in a sequential order, so sound would become permanent and unmade. Moreover, the mind that ascertains sound would become the means of newly establishing the nature of sound from non-existence, because the appearance previously described is not mistaken. If in ultimate truth, a nature that did not previously exist is newly established, it would become the source of sound, and if so, it is impossible for a substance to be produced by parts, so all the qualities of sound would be established simultaneously. Therefore, the actual basis of negation and affirmation is not established in ultimate truth, that is, even though there is no such thing as those qualities of sound being established sequentially in the external world, it is because the thoughts that negate and affirm based on sound appear that way. This is what is being shown. "Even if it is not like that, the subject appears in relation to those." and so on. Furthermore, although the three, sound, fabrication, and impermanence, are self-characterized, the fact that sound is the subject to be known, fabrication is the reason, and impermanence is the property to be proven, etc., are all imputations. If these were established in ultimate truth, then in the thought that considers sound as the subject to be known, the appearance of fabrication appearing on sound like a poplar tree supported by a base would itself become non-mistaken, and if so, sound and fabrication would become different things. Similarly, it can be applied to other things as well, considering these meanings, and then inferring and
