The obstacle to being able to establish is precisely the clinging to the contradiction between the fact that the object of conceptualization is not self-characterized and that the self-characterized is the object of conceptualization. Therefore, if one assumes that whatever is merely imputed by conceptualization cannot produce results, then it becomes an obstacle to ascertaining the view of the Middle Way according to the system of the master Chandrakirti. According to this line of reasoning, if one assumes that whatever is merely conceptually imputed cannot perform a function, even if it is pervasive, but because it is not established by valid cognition, then this line of reasoning is the main obstacle to ascertaining the view, so one must be skilled in the distinction between the two truths, and then it will be explained. Secondly, how the object appears and enters into conceptualization; refuting that the object of conceptualization is established in the ultimate sense; and identifying the basis of the imputation of terms such as generality and common ground; and based on these, understanding the system of other-exclusion. First, for the conceptualization that grasps a golden vase as a vase, the golden vase also appears as a vase, and its own actual object of apprehension also appears as a vase, and on the face of appearance, the two appear mixed together, and there is no distinction between them in appearance, so it is called the mixing of appearance and imputation, appearance is self-characterized and imputation is name-meaning. What is name-meaning? The characteristic of a vase is both the golden vase that appears as a vase, appearing as if it were present in front of conceptualization, and the appearance itself appearing as the opposite of not being a vase. The golden vase appearing as the opposite of not being a vase, and the appearance itself appearing as the opposite of not being a vase, both appear mixed together, and although they cannot be distinguished in appearance, it is not the case that conceptualization grasps them as one. Name-meaning is the understanding of the power of self-cognizing direct perception, but conceptualization does not become self-cognizing direct perception for that, because it would follow that name-meaning is a real entity, and conceptualization would become non-deceptive. Furthermore, it is not the case that the apprehended aspect appears as an external object for conceptualization, because the apprehended aspect of conceptualization is conceptualization, so for that too, another apprehended aspect must appear as an external object, so it would become infinite, and conceptualization itself is also an apprehended aspect, and it is impossible for itself to appear as an external object to itself. It is extremely contradictory to assert that the apprehended aspect of conceptualization appears as an external object, while asserting that all consciousness is self-cognizing direct perception in its own nature, because the nature of the object is one,
