Refutation of "I" and elimination of disputes about refutation. First, refuting that teeth, nails, etc., are "I" is for the purpose of liberation from samsara. If so, sentient beings have attachment to these as "mine," but not attachment to "I," so it is unreasonable. If someone thinks so, then this is the same meaning as what is said in the sutras, such as "Form is not I." The two objects of innate ego-clinging are just the "I" that is the basis of karma and its results, and the self-aspect of "mine." To this, ego-clinging clings to "I" and "mine" as being established by their own nature. If "I" is established by its own nature, then it must be proven that the aggregates, the continuum, the parts, the divisions, and anything that is different in essence from these are the basis of "I." However, since these cannot be established in this way, it is explained in this way. Refuting the view that a part of the aggregates is the basis of "I": Teeth, hair, and nails are not "I," bones and blood are not the basis of "I," snot is not, phlegm is not, because these are only labeled as "I." Serum and pus are also not the basis of "mine," fat and dust are not the basis of "I," for the same reason as before. The lungs and liver are also not the basis of "I," and other internal organs such as intestines are also not the basis of "I." Feces and urine are not "I." Flesh and skin are not "I," because these are only labeled as such. Heat and breath are also not "I." The pores inside the body, etc., are also not "I," this is just for understanding. The meaning of these can be summarized as follows: Those of our own school who speak of entities hold the aggregates as the basis of the person, while outsiders consider the person as the master and the aggregates as the servant, and acknowledge an "I" that is different in essence from the aggregates. These teachings here are the same in meaning as the refutation of the six elements being the person in the Garland of Jewels of the Middle Way. The statement "Pores are not," etc., is a refutation of the space element being the person. Therefore, even in conventional terms, neither the collection of aggregates, nor the continuum, nor the parts, nor the divisions can be considered the basis of the person, and other things that are different in essence from these cannot be considered the person, because they are only labeled as the person in dependence on them. So, is it that no person can be established at all? If you ask this, for you, Devadatta and Offerings

Isn't it permissible to engage without examining generosity and the like? What is the basis for applying the term "person"? If one believes that a person is established by their own intrinsic nature, then one will fall into the extremes of permanence and annihilation. Therefore, one should know that even a particle of that does not exist. Secondly, there are the refutation of the Samkhya school's belief that the self is consciousness, and the refutation of the Vaisheshika school's belief that the self is material. Although the clear distinctions of the externalists who accept the self as a substance are endless, since they believe that all of these are either material or consciousness, it is thought that refuting these two can also refute the others. Therefore, the refutation of these two is spoken of here. First, there is the actual refutation and the refutation of its answer. The first is that the Samkhyas fix the number of knowables at twenty-five. Of these, the twenty-four, such as primordial matter, are material, and the twenty-fifth is considered the self, which is consciousness, intelligence, experience, and mind. Although primordial matter knows transformation and action, it does not know enjoyment. And the purusha of knowledge and intelligence, although knowing the enjoyment of objects, does not know action, and is considered permanent and real. At the time of enjoyment, the so-called intellect and great one, from the outside, the five elements such as sound appear, and from the inside, the purusha also appears and enjoys. The intellect clings to the object of enjoyment and the enjoyer as one, and from this, it is considered samsara. Here, it is not elaborated in detail, and these aspects should be understood elsewhere, because this Samkhya system, having been given another name, is considered to be the intention of the tantras of Highest Yoga in many cases. There are four views on whether sound and consciousness are permanent, but both Samkhyas consider them to be permanent. If the enjoyer of sound and the five elements such as sound, the purusha of knowledge and intelligence, is permanent and real, then that purusha should grasp sound as the object to be grasped at all times, whether sound exists or not, because it is the permanent nature of grasping sound as the object to be grasped. It is unreasonable, because if there is no object of knowledge, then what would one know, and how would one call the consciousness that possesses the object of which object? It is unreasonable to say. The sign is not established, if one says that even if there is no sound, there is always the consciousness of grasping there, then it will also be inferred that trees also have consciousness, because it is enough to admit consciousness without an object of knowledge. Therefore, one should know that without the abode of knowable sound and the like, there is no consciousness.
