Because of refuting the wrong views that do not accept the sacred teachings, this treatise is written. The thesis of this argument is the wisdom that realizes emptiness, which is the practice of the three Bodhi paths. It is not through establishing the pervasiveness of this argument that the Mahayana is established as the sacred teaching, and there is no fault in establishing the Mahayana through sacred words. Secondly, there are arguments with the same beginning and genuine reasoning. First, if the Mahayana sutras are not established as sacred teachings for us, and we do not accept them as valid, then they are not established for us. If we use them as arguments and establish the realization of emptiness as the path of Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, then the argument is the same as the thesis. If you say so, then how are your sacred words, the Hinayana collections that you consider to be your own valid means of cognition, established as sacred teachings? If asked, they are sacred teachings because both of us have established the Hinayana sutras as sacred teachings. If you say so, then the reason is exactly the same. You were just born, and you have not yet determined through the reasoning of the meaning of the sacred words. Initially, for you, the Hinayana collection was not established as valid. Later, the reason for accepting the sacred words as valid is that whatever means of taming is used, it appears in the sutras. Entering the sutras, the great teachings that enter without contradicting the nature of the Abhidharma, etc., through what kind of reasoning of the meaning of the sacred words is it determined, so that one believes that the sacred words are valid? This argument is also the same for the Mahayana sutras. If it is not like this, but any other two people think that the truth is valid, then the Vedas and other texts should also become true, because there are two people who think it is valid. The Hinayana collection that we think is sacred, you also think is sacred, so there is no dispute, but the Mahayana collection we do not think is sacred, so there is a dispute. If you say so, then for the sacred words of the Hinayana, there is also dispute among the heretics and the Sravaka schools. Moreover, all eighteen schools of the Hinayana sacred words accept them as valid, but internally, some Sravaka schools believe that there is an intermediate state, etc., while some schools do not think so. Therefore, because there is dispute between oneself and others within the schools, the Hinayana collection should also become a valid means of cognition that should be abandoned.

It would be a fallacy. Secondly, it is shown that it is impossible to attain Arhatship and Nirvana without the wisdom of realizing emptiness; it is unreasonable to assume that if one attains Arhatship merely through the path of practicing the sixteen aspects such as impermanence, then one can attain it merely by abandoning the manifestation of afflictions; this is refuted; therefore, it is shown that even those who merely wish to attain liberation must meditate on emptiness. Firstly, the Arhats, having heard directly from the Buddha, subsequently compiled the teachings that explain emptiness. Among the many teachings of the monks, the root of the teachings of the Buddha, the Bhagavan, is the monk Arhat himself, and because it is so, the monk Arhat himself is difficult to abide by. Hearer-Arya, possessing Dharma-nature, it would be a fallacy that Arhatship cannot be attained, because the wisdom of realizing emptiness is not used as a path. This also shows that it is a fallacy to assert that Arhatship is impossible for those who do not accept the emptiness of phenomena as being empty by nature. The word "also" indicates that not only is it impossible to attain Buddhahood if one lacks the realization of emptiness. Hearer-Arhat, possessing Dharma-nature, Nirvana is also difficult to abide by, because the Nirvana in your continuum is also unreasonable, because your mind is connected with the object of true clinging, because its object of attachment is the true clinging to things that have not been refuted by reason. Alternatively, the first two lines are taken as the proposition, and the last two lines as the reason, because as long as there is true clinging, Nirvana cannot be attained, so it is explained. Secondly, regarding the attainment of Arhatship, if it is said that it is not necessary to realize emptiness, but by habituating to the path of realizing the sixteen aspects such as impermanence, one abandons the exhaustion of afflictions and attains liberation, thereby attaining the fruit of Arhatship. Then, it is unreasonable that a person who has merely temporarily abandoned the manifestation of afflictions will immediately become an Arhat after abandoning the manifestation, because merely habituating to the path of the sixteen aspects such as impermanence, afflictions are exhausted and Arhatship is attained. These two are the same in all aspects. This is unacceptable, because even if there is no temporary manifestation of afflictions, one can see the power of karma that connects those who have merely abandoned the manifestation to the next life. Because afflictions are abandoned,
