Emptiness by establishment means emptiness by its own nature. The reason why other ways of emptiness are not empty by their own nature is that as long as the previous way of emptiness is proven by valid cognition and its function has not disappeared, sects cannot possibly cling to that basis as true or as existing for that purpose. However, even if the meaning of the latter ones is proven by valid cognition and its function has not disappeared, it is not contradictory for sects to cling to them as true or as the meaning of truth. Thirdly, is it like saying that for persons and phenomena, only self-nature is negated by reason, but not established? Or do you think that non-self-nature is established by reason? For this, one must first know the definitions of the two negations, so I will explain them. Negation is when expressing with words, the object to be negated is cut off by words, or when its appearance arises in the mind, it must arise as having the appearance of negating the object to be negated, and then be understood. The first is like selflessness. The second is like the nature of phenomena, for which there is no cutting off of the object to be negated by words, but when its meaning arises, it arises as having the appearance of cutting off elaborations. Thus, for the meaning to be understood by actually cutting off the object to be negated, there are two, of which non-affirmative negation is to cut off the object to be negated and then draw out another dharma. As it says in the Blaze of Reasoning: "Non-affirmative negation is to negate the very nature of a thing, thereby establishing the nature of another thing similar to it but different from it. For example, negating 'This is not a Brahmin' thereby establishing a lower caste who is different from a Brahmin, not as diligent in asceticism and learning." Negative negation is to cut off the object to be negated and not draw out another dharma. As it says in the Blaze of Reasoning: "Negative negation is merely to prevent the very nature of a thing, and does not establish another thing that is similar to it but not it. For example, a Brahmin should not drink alcohol. It only prevents that, and does not say whether or not to drink other drinks." Wherein, establishing and not establishing are the same as drawing out and not drawing out, and different from it is not merely negating the object to be negated. Negating with the words 'not' and 'without' is not the difference between the two, because 'not from self'.

Because both Lektan and Zlawa said that negation is non-affirming negation, and "Amitayus" must be made into an affirming negation. Therefore, for negation, all phenomena negate their own non-existence. For objects, it is not enough to merely cut off what is to be negated. It must be cut off by words that express themselves, or in the mind that can realize itself, it must appear in the form of actually cutting off what is to be negated. One of the two must be present. Some people think that like selflessness, it is non-affirming negation, like saying selflessness in a person, if it is establishing a basis and a collection, it is not non-affirming negation. Others say that in the basis and collection, because other dharmas are abandoned, it is not non-affirming negation, which is unreasonable. The difference between the two negations is just as mentioned before, and it also appears in other treatises. At that time, like a Brahmin not drinking alcohol, the characteristics of non-affirming negation also exist in establishing the basis and collection. Like a Brahmin, it is the basis for considering whether other dharmas are abandoned after cutting off what is to be negated, and not the other dharmas that are abandoned. Therefore, there are four ways to abandon other dharmas, namely, through implication, directly, both, and according to circumstances. As quoted in the commentary of the Lamp of Wisdom: Negation shows by meaning, one sentence establishes a thing, possessing it does not show its own words, non-existent other is other existent. Among them, showing by meaning, such as the offering person does not eat black food during the day. One sentence establishes a thing, such as there is something not born from itself, like this, cutting off what is to be negated and directly abandoning other dharmas are both contained in one sentence. Possessing it refers to the statement that both implication and directness exist in abandoning other dharmas, such as the offering person does not eat black food during the day, there is something that is not thin. Not showing with one's own words, such as when a person is determined to be one of the royal caste or Brahmin, but in the case of not being sure which one, saying that this person is not a Brahmin. Whichever of the above four ways of abandoning appears, it is an affirming negation. Apart from that, if none of the above four ways are abandoned, it is a non-affirming negation other than the affirming negation. In this regard, some people in the past said that for the Madhyamikas, there are valid reasons and inferences for negating self-nature, but there are no reasons and inferences for establishing the non-existence of self-nature, which is unreasonable. Because a correct reason without what is to be proven and an inference without what is to be measured are impossible.
