It is accomplished. Likewise, if it is said that consciousness is obtained through delusion, it is contradictory that the object of knowledge is not inverted. Therefore, the fault of the subject not being established cannot be avoided. If, when measuring sound, it is determined whether it is permanent or impermanent, just as it is not necessary to establish the sound as the subject with a valid cognition distinguished by either a valid cognition of impermanence or a valid cognition of permanence. Although it can be determined whether consciousness is deluded or not deluded, when showing the valid cognition that establishes the subject, it is not necessary to establish it by distinguishing it with either of the two. Similarly, although it can be determined whether sound is permanent or impermanent, and the valid cognition that measures sound does not find sound to be either permanent or impermanent, measuring sound is not contradictory. Just as it is not contradictory to measure the eye, etc., although it can be determined whether the object of knowledge is inverted or not inverted, and the valid cognition that measures the eye, etc., does not find the object of knowledge of the eye, etc., to be either inverted or not inverted. It is thought that those reasonings that do not allow the eye, etc., to be taken as the subject alone are unreasonable. Such doubts do not arise even for those like Lekden and the scholars who speak of entities, so Chandrakirti did not refute them. However, since such ignorant opponents arise in times like the present, if it is explained, then when examining whether a thing is established by valid cognition or not, the statement "established by valid cognition" means that if it is a non-conceptual valid cognition, then the thing is established as it appears, and if it is a conceptual valid cognition, then the thing is established as it is ascertained or fixated upon. It must be understood that the object to which it points is established. This is the meaning of non-delusion, because through the establishment of the thing as it appears and as it is ascertained, the mind is established as non-deluded with respect to the appearing object and the fixated object, or through the mind with respect to the object. Therefore, how can it be that only the thing is determined, but the mind is not determined to be established? In that case, since consciousness relies on the appearance of its own characteristic, the meaning of obtaining non-delusion is established as the establishment of correct knowledge, so even if the object of knowledge is wrong, how can it be that the thing is determined, but not determined in the mind? These are the ways in which those opponents who believe that existing things exist by their own nature are established by valid cognition, not our own system. Therefore, followers of the continuous tradition!

If, according to this way, the valid knowledge that is the nature of eye and so on, even if obtained through unerring knowledge, does not need to be established by distinguishing between the two truths, conventional and ultimate, in terms of name and meaning. It is enough to examine whether it exists in the ultimate truth based on that distinction, so how can there be any criticism of examining the difference between the two truths when holding it as a common nature? Chandrakirti thinks that such a thing already exists by its own nature, and that itself is the meaning of existing in the ultimate truth, so how can it be possible to have a nature that is based on that distinction? Therefore, he prevents the holding of a common nature that abandons the distinction. If you understand these key points, the Svātantrika will say: Although appearances are similar, their functions are different. Because of the ability and inability, correctness and incorrectness, the distinction of conventional is made. It is said that, and also that the object-possessor is not divided into two, correct and incorrect, and that the Prāsaṅgika relies only on the world to establish both the correct and incorrect object and object-possessor, but the reasons why it is not established in one's own system will be understood. If, like conceptual and non-conceptual, the subject is established by a mistaken consciousness that lacks self-characteristics, then the meaning of the absence of self-nature to be established has already been established, so why should it be established, and how can it be a foreign opponent? Therefore, the fault of the subject not being established remains. If it is said that the meaning obtained through error and the fact that knowledge is not inverted externally are contradictory, then the meaning obtained through inferential cognition and the truth of ultimate truth will also be contradictory. Because it is not desired to be obtained merely through the inversion of knowledge externally, so if it must be obtained through knowledge that is not mistaken about its own nature, then all conventional things will also become like that, because those are all measured by the wisdom of the Victorious One's knowledge of all things. If the word "merely" is used to cut off obtaining through non-error, then the first fault does not exist, because although inferential cognition is a mistaken consciousness that is mistaken about the object of appearance, what it obtains is not obtained through mistaken consciousness, so it is not contradictory, just as obtaining a conch sound that is both sound and false, but not obtaining the false conch sound, is not contradictory. If you look at the place where the determination of "merely" is connected, such doubts may arise, but the speaker's intention is how it exists, which is obtained by the examiner who examines.
