Pages 601 to 700. Pages 601 to 700. Śāntipa considered these two treatises to be by Nāgārjuna, and by this he showed Mind-Only, considering Madhyamaka and Mind-Only to be the same. Although Śāntarakṣita seems to have frequently quoted one of them, there are also other cases where different authors wrote and quoted the same treatise. This school considers appearances such as blue and yellow to be real. Dharmakīrti's view is also explained in this way, so it is a Prāsaṅgika Madhyamaka that considers appearances to be true in conventional truth. Although it establishes self-awareness in name, it does not clearly explain whether or not to establish the ālaya-vijñāna, but it seems to lean towards not accepting it. The Madhyamaka school that considers appearances such as blue and yellow to be non-existent in name, but like false appearances, is as explained by the teacher Lāva pa, so said the paṇḍita Sahajavajra. The third is: Then, does this school accept the meaning of the Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra as explained by the Yogācāras, or how does it accept it? In the Madhyamakāloka, it says: For that meaning, the Bhagavan taught unbornness, etc., and only said that it was from the point of view of ultimate truth, and by showing the intention of the three natures of non-existence, in order to perfectly show the Madhyamaka path that is free from the two extremes, therefore only established the definitive meaning as the establishment of the doctrine. Therefore, the Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra shows the intention of the three natures of non-existence, and they explain that these two established the doctrine that the Mother Sutra, etc., are of definitive meaning. That is to say, in order to eliminate the slander of the nature of conventional truth, and the imputation that things such as permanence and form, which do not exist in name, appear to exist, and the attachment to those imputations and slanders that do not enter into ultimate truth, therefore it was spoken. Speaking of unbornness, etc., by preventing the literal meaning, it is shown that the teaching of unbornness, etc., is from the point of view of ultimate truth, and therefore it must be admitted that there is birth and cessation, etc., in name, thereby eliminating slander, etc. Others believe that it is born only by the power of other conditions, and not by its own nature, so it is said that birth is non-existent in nature, and the wise say that whatever arises dependently is empty of its own nature.

In response: Ma-dros asked, "Whatever arises from conditions is unborn. It does not have the nature of arising." This is similar to showing that what arises from conditions is not born of its own nature. Therefore, arising from causes and conditions does not necessarily require the existence of other-power as truly existent. Otherwise, illusions and other falsehoods would also become true entities. Therefore, considering that there is no truth and no difference from illusion, it is said in the commentary on the "Sandhinirmocana Sutra" that other-power is like illusion. Therefore, the idea that impermanence and so on exist in it in a truly existent way is the completely imputed. Moreover, since it does not exist as it is established, it is said that the completely imputed is characterized by the absence of its own nature, which eliminates superimposition. To be attached to the nature of other-power as the nature of the completely imputed, and it must be shown that there is no such attached nature in other-power, therefore, it is not contradictory to say that the absence of self-nature is the very absence of establishment of other-power in the ultimate sense. In the "Sandhinirmocana Sutra," it is said that the completely imputed is not established by its own nature, so it is said to be characterized by the absence of its own nature, and it is not said that the other two natures are not characterized by the absence of their own nature because they are not established by their own nature. This is because this school believes that the absence of establishment of the other two natures in the ultimate sense is the meaning of the absence of self-nature of the completely imputed established by its own nature. Because not being established by one's own nature in the ultimate sense is the meaning of the absence of self-nature, it is free from superimposition, and in conventional terms, there is the nature of self-nature established by one's own nature, so it is very clear that it can refute slander. Therefore, if other-power is not established by its own nature, it will become a slander against cause and effect, which is the same as the Yogacara school, but the difference is that this school says that it is not established by its own nature in the ultimate sense, while the Yogacara school says that if it is established by its own nature, it must exist in the ultimate sense. In the "Sandhinirmocana Sutra," it is said that on forms and so on, it is established that this is this, as entity and difference, these other-powered dharmas are not established by their own nature, therefore the completely imputed makes other-power emptiness, this school also believes that the object of attachment is like the well-differentiated, which is the same as what was said before.
