It is to prevent. Like this, to establish that smoke and fire pervade all that is many, is not to establish that smoke and fire pervade all that is many, because that is not the true meaning of the treatise. If it is not so, then lala, which has smoke, will establish that all that is many has fire, by the sign of having smoke of all that is many, because when establishing the pervasion of having fire by the sign of having smoke in lala, whatever is grasped as a sign, is grasped as a dharma, and it is used to establish the pervasion, and the way of establishing it is the same as before. Therefore, all that is many is smoke, and the pervasion of having fire is a definite basis, and the pervasion is the meaning of being definite there, if it is as you think, then please point out the dharma of the example on which basis the pervasion is definite. Similarly, to establish that sound is impermanent by the sign of being made, to establish the pervasion on the pot, how can it be to establish the pervasion of the impermanence of the pot by the making of the pot? Without making the difference between the smoke and the made, etc. of this place and time, only establishing the pervasion of having fire and impermanence by only smoke and made, is the way to be sure that it will not be confused in all places and times, so do not have wrong views about it. Therefore, following this reasoning, wanting to push the only refutation is like a person being swept away by water grabbing a pile of grass that has been uprooted. Similarly, blocking the valid cognition that the power of things enters or the way of holding does not confuse the meaning, and establishing the worldly renowned valid cognition without examining it, and the reason for not letting the fault of blocking fall on oneself is that one does not admit that one's own system can be examined by reason, but because it is admitted by the other party. Although they say so, it seems that they do not distinguish between the difference between the nominalist and the establishment and non-establishment of the ultimate meaning, and the difference between the two Madhyamikas in establishing and not establishing the ultimate meaning. And it seems that they do not understand that, as mentioned before, in the nominal, merely establishing the name that cannot find the meaning of the established, they do not know how to establish cause and effect, etc., so even if they say many times that there is no self-characteristic in the nominal, it is just saying it. Also, some people think that since the meaning established by valid cognition does not exist in all places, they rely on what the other party admits or the ultimate of admitting, and use fallacy to prevent wrong discrimination, and truth.

Now, it is considered that merely being without truth means the absence of a self-sustaining reason and the absence of a commitment. All other discussions about conventional and ultimate truths are spoken for the sake of others, not for one's own school. Saying this is not done by oneself, but merely appears as the view of others. This was not present among those who refuted self-sustaining arguments in earlier times, but only later people say this. Some of them acknowledged the unique object of refutation of this school, while most refuted the dependent origination established by valid cognition, thus appearing as the main representative of the earlier side of this school. Their refutations and establishments have been explained in detail in the 'Stages of the Path to Enlightenment,' so I will not elaborate. The second part is divided into two points: the way in which the reason establishes what is to be established, and the way in which the self-sustaining reason is not acknowledged. The first point is: if one's own school believes that things are established by their own characteristics, as stated in the 'Explication of the Thought,' then it is necessary to have a self-sustaining argument, just like those in one's own school who assert substantial existence and those like Lekden. If one does not accept phenomena established by their own characteristics even in conventional terms, then one must undoubtedly not accept self-sustaining arguments, and this ultimately leads to refuting subtle objects of refutation. That is, even if there are no things established by their own characteristics in conventional terms, it is not the case that one does not accept self-sustaining arguments because one sees it as contradictory to establish one's own thesis, the means of establishing it, valid cognition, and the object of valid cognition. Because in the root verses and commentary of the 'Entering the Middle Way,' it has been examined whether the cause produces the effect by meeting or not meeting, and both possibilities have been refuted. The commentary says that the fault applies to the opponent's means of establishment, according to whose view, whatever has the ability to produce its own nature and the act of producing its own nature, this analysis applies to him. That is, for those who assert cause and effect established by their own characteristics, two examinations have been made, but for those who speak of emptiness like an illusion in the 'Entering the Middle Way,' there is no such fault. In response to the opponent's accusation, the answer begins in the same way: does the accuser accuse by not meeting the object of accusation, or by meeting it? It has already been said, where is this fault? It must necessarily occur to someone who has a school, but for me, this school does not exist, therefore this inference is not possible. Saying this
