Also, because there is not, it is said that all dharmas are merely imputed, and that it is impossible to consider that itself as the ultimate truth, so it becomes the root of nihilistic views. As it is said in the Bodhisattvabhumi: Therefore, some people hear the sutras of the Mahayana, which are difficult to understand, possess profound emptiness, and reveal the meaning of the intended meaning, but do not understand the true meaning of what is said as it is, and do not properly contemplate it, but merely with the conceptualization generated by unreason, they think: 'All of this is just an imputation, this is the ultimate truth, whoever sees it this way is the correct view.' They see it this way and say it this way. According to their view, even the object itself that serves as the basis for imputation does not exist, then the imputation itself will also completely not exist, how can there be the ultimate truth of mere imputation? Therefore, from another aspect, they also deny both the ultimate truth and the imputation. Because they deny the imputation and the ultimate truth, it should be known that they are the root of holding nihilistic views. It is said that. Considering this, the view of self is a wrong understanding of the supreme emptiness, it is not like that. The former is just being confused about the knowable, but it does not deny all knowable things, and it will not be reborn in hell because of that. Furthermore, the desire for Dharma

It is ultimately explained that, according to the Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra, the entity encompassed by the characteristic of a dharma liberated from the existence and non-existence of both the prior entity and the non-existent entity is non-duality. What is non-duality is the unsurpassed Middle Way that abandons both extremes. The second part has two points: First, presenting the opponent's view and engaging in question and answer regarding its meaning; second, refuting the answered view. The first point is: In the Compendium, it is said that some Mahāyāna practitioners, considering themselves to have faults, say this: In conventional truth, everything exists; in ultimate truth, everything does not exist. This is stating that those Madhyamikas who say that all dharmas do not exist in ultimate truth but exist in name, distinguish the difference between the existence and non-existence of dharmas. Then, one should say to them: Venerable one, what is ultimate truth? What is conventional truth? After asking this, if they answer: The selflessness of all dharmas is ultimate truth, and clinging to self in those selfless dharmas is conventional truth. Why? Because, like this, for those non-existent things, one conventionally establishes, imputes, expresses, and names them. This is the initial presentation of the question and then the answer. Here, asking what is ultimate truth is asking for the definition of ultimate truth, not asking what the 'non-existence' that does not exist in ultimate truth refers to, i.e., not asking the place of 'non-existence' that does not exist in ultimate truth. Otherwise, it should not be said that the selflessness of dharmas is ultimate truth, because Madhyamikas consider that what exists in ultimate truth is the selflessness of dharma, so they do not consider it to exist in ultimate truth. Asking what is conventional truth is also asking what conventionality is, on what basis conventional truth is established, not asking what the name of the place of 'existence' that exists in name is. Otherwise, it should not be said that clinging to self in selflessness is conventional, because this is true clinging, and Madhyamikas believe that its object of clinging does not exist even in name, because of so-called selflessness.

The nature of the cause of non-existence must be the nature of truth. The second (part) has two aspects: showing the contradiction with other schools and avoiding the contradiction with one's own school. The first (part): First, refuting the recognition of the conventional, as stated in the Compendium: To this it should be said, do you think that the nature of what is perceived is manifest and arises from the cause of the conventional, or do you think that it is manifest and merely conventional? If it is thought to be manifest and arises from the cause of the conventional, then it cannot be said that because it is manifest and arises from the cause of the conventional, it is not existent. If it is thought to be manifest and merely conventional, then it cannot be said to be a manifestation and a conventional without a basis. Its meaning is that the conventional, which clings to the absence of self-nature in the ultimate sense as if it had self-nature, also becomes an inner manifestation, and at that time, is it produced by its own similar previous cause, or is it merely established by the conceptual thought of the conventional and the manifestation? If it is the former, then it is not right to say that it is not existent because it is produced by a cause, which means that it is not existent in the ultimate sense, because this is the occasion for arguing about existence and non-existence in the ultimate sense. Moreover, the other party admits that it does not exist in the ultimate sense, but does not say that it does not exist in general. If it is the latter, then it cannot be merely established by conceptual thought, because there is no basis for establishment, if the conventional and the manifestation are merely established by conceptual thought, then other things will also become merely so. Refuting the recognition of the ultimate, as stated in the same text: To this it should be said, Venerable, why is what is perceived non-existent? If asked in this way, if the answer is that it is because it is a reversed object. To this it should be said, do you think that the reversed is existent or non-existent? If it is thought to be existent, then it cannot be said that the selflessness of all phenomena is the ultimate. If it is thought to be non-existent, then it cannot be said that because it is a reversed object, what is perceived is self-nature.
