Therefore, the initial meaning and the final meaning are said to be provisional and definitive, respectively. Thus, some people, relying on this sutra, establish all the sutras spoken in the three times as definitive, and think that in order to guide those who are attached to the "self" spoken by other schools of thought, some of the contents should be understood literally; except for the nature of reality, all phenomena are just false assumptions, and there is no self-nature established at all, and the nature of reality is truly established, and distinguishing between truth and untruth is considered to be the meaning of the well-distinguished previously mentioned. To this, others think that if this sutra distinguishes between provisional and definitive in this way, it will be like what the former said, so they deny that the reason for provisional and definitive is not understood literally. Both of these views have not carefully examined the way in which the question of contradictory arguments to the sutras appears in this sutra, and the way in which the Buddha answered it, and the way in which provisional and definitive were established based on it, and it seems that they are only arguing in the context of distinguishing between provisional and definitive. Second, there are two parts: Master Asanga mainly relies on the rationale of the *Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra*, and the way to determine the suchness based on it. First, in the *Compendium of Determinations*, it says: "The ultimate truth with five characteristics should also be understood as it appears in the *Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra*." The ultimate truth chapter of the *Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra* is quoted; "The characteristics of phenomena should be observed as they appear in the *Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra*." The characteristic chapter that explains the three characteristics is quoted; "The characteristic of the absence of self-nature of phenomena should be observed as it appears in the *Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra*." The chapter on the absence of self-nature, which explains the questions and answers of contradictory arguments to the sutras and provisional and definitive, etc., is quoted. Similarly, the eight consciousness aggregates and the ultimate lineage determination are also quoted from what is said in the *Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra*. In the Suchness chapter of the *Yogācārabhūmi* and its determination, and in the *Mahāyānasaṃgraha*, the dependent nature mentioned in the *Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra*, and the emptiness of the other-imposed imputed nature as the perfectly established nature, are also determined in many ways. In the *Mahāyānālaṃkāra* and the *Madhyāntavibhāga*, etc., the meaning of suchness is explained, and the key points shown in the commentaries of these treatises are also the sutras

Therefore, this reasoning is very much in accordance with the meaning here, so it seems fundamental to determine the meaning of this sutra. The second part has three aspects: generally showing how to abandon the two extremes, and specifically refuting the extreme of superimposition. This explains how to distinguish the definitive and provisional meanings of the scriptures. The first part has three aspects: the way of explaining from the Madhyāntavibhāga, the way of explaining from the Compendium, and the way of explaining from other treatises. The first part has two aspects: the way of viewing as superimposition and denigration, and the way of preventing these two errors. The first part is: In the Madhyāntavibhāga, it says: If asked how it exists, it is that there exists the abandonment of the incorrect understanding of superimposing on what does not exist, and the abandonment of the incorrect understanding of denigrating what truly exists. Thus, it is said to exist by abandoning superimposition and denigration. So, what is superimposition and denigration? These two are explained in the Madhyāntavibhāga: For phenomena such as form and objects such as form, what is the superimposition on what is not the self-nature of the essence of words, and the manifestation of clinging? This explains the way of superimposition. And as the basis of the characteristic of the superimposed word, as the support of the characteristic of the superimposed word, saying that the true object that exists ultimately with an inexpressible nature does not exist in all of everything, denigrating and belittling, these two should be understood as greatly damaging this Vinaya. The former shows the way of denigration, while the part from "belittling" onwards shows the damage to the profound Dharma of the Mahayana. From "form" to "object," it shows the basis of the superimposed conceptual construction. Among them, "the essence of words" refers to the essence explained by words, not the explaining words, which is clearly explained in the Compendium and others. Other occurrences in the context of the Madhyāntavibhāga should also be understood in this way. The essence explained by words, which does not exist by its own nature, but clinging to it as existing by its own nature, is superimposition. The basis of the characteristic of the superimposed word, that is, the support of the characteristic of the superimposed word, is the explanation of the basis of imputation of the conceptual construction. Saying that the object that exists ultimately in an inexpressible form does not exist in all of everything,
