In the Four Hundred, it is said that before explaining the view of emptiness, to tame the mind, the four topics of impermanence etc. are explained, which is similar to no-self, that is, those who have self are transformed into the no-self of independence. Non-retrogression means that once entered, there is no need to enter another vehicle. If the explanation by the Vijnanavada school is the meaning of the sutra, then the explanation by the Madhyamaka school, which is inconsistent with it, is also the meaning of the sutra. In this way, the speaker would have self-contradiction, and also negate the meaning of the sutra. If you think so, then, is the prohibition of killing based on conditions the meaning of the Sravaka Pitaka? If not, then there would be no difference between the Vinaya Pitakas of the Hinayana and Mahayana in terms of prohibiting killing. If it is, then allowing killing based on certain necessities is also the meaning of the Mahayana Vinaya Pitaka, so the speaker would have self-contradiction. If you say so, what is the answer? For those who should be tamed with inferior faculties, killing is never allowed. For some differences of the Mahayana, allowing killing is the intention of the speaker, so there is no contradiction. If you say that, for the mind of those who should be tamed who have the Mahayana nature but are temporarily not suitable vessels for fully explaining the profound meaning, self-establishment exists. For those who should be tamed who are able to fully understand the profound meaning and become suitable vessels, what contradiction is there in the fact that all dharmas are not self-established? As it is said in the sutra, "Father and mother were killed." Although the literal meaning is not the meaning to be expressed, the meaning that the speaker wants to express is craving, which is the meaning to be expressed, so there is no problem in this regard. Because the speaker wants to have the trainees here accept the directly shown meaning. Therefore, it is necessary to show a meaning to be expressed here, and there is no other meaning to be expressed other than the literal meaning, so it is necessary to express the directly shown meaning, and it is desirable to prove that it is not definitive by showing the harm to the literal meaning. Therefore, there are two situations: one is that it is both the meaning to be expressed by the scriptures and the intention of the speaker, and the other is that although it is not the intention of the speaker, it must be established as the meaning of the scriptures. The second situation is, if the Yoga

If explained in this way, do you also agree with the three natures mentioned in the chapter of Maitreya's Questions? If you agree, then it is not appropriate to understand the sutras of the realm as they are literally, but rather according to the intention of explaining the scriptures. If you do not agree, then in that sutra it says: Maitreya, all forms of the completely imputed should be regarded as non-substantial. All forms of the other-dependent should be regarded as substantial, because discriminating consciousness is substantial. But not because it arises independently. All forms of the perfectly established should not be regarded as non-substantial, nor should they be regarded as substantial, but should be distinguished by the ultimate truth. Thus, it speaks of other-dependent as substantially existent. When proving that all dharmas from form to Buddha are merely names, it is proven by three reasons such as 'there is no mind before the name', which is in accordance with the intention of the commentary. If you say so, then it should be explained: Maitreya Bodhisattva wants to learn the practice of a Bodhisattva who practices Prajnaparamita, so he asks how to learn from form to Buddha, and the answer is that those are merely names. In this regard, if the names such as form are aimed at together with the basis of the establishment, then form etc. cannot be merely names, how should one learn that form etc. are merely names? If there is no such thing, then that name cannot be merely a name. The question is, if there is a meaningful thing, then there is no word 'merely' to limit it, and if there is not, there is no basis for the name to be applied, so there is no name. The answer to this is that from form to Buddha is the name temporarily established on things. It means that establishing it as a name is temporary. Temporary here is the meaning of artificial, therefore it prevents self-nature. This does not prevent the true establishment of form etc. as in the Vijnanavada, but if it prevents the true establishment of form etc. in the nature of establishing names on form etc., then the intention of saying that from form to Buddha is merely a name will become this: the nature of establishing 'this is form' etc. is merely established as a name, not that the desired basis form etc. is merely established as a name. If this is the case, then the answer to the question below 'do form etc. not exist with all characteristics' will become 'I do not say that'.
