To consider a harmonious person as an independently existing real entity is to consider the limbs, etc., of a person as different entities from the person, and this would not occur if one's mind were not swayed by sectarian views. As it says in the Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds: 'Why is it that in the world, having merely planted a seed, one says, "I have produced this child," and also thinks, "I have planted a tree"? Therefore, there is no such thing as something being born from something else in the world.' As Buddhapalita also said: Having merely planted a seed of a tree, when it grows into a tree, one points to it and says, "I planted this." Because names are thus assigned, these two are not considered different entities. Otherwise, if one were to grow a fir tree, one would mistakenly assign the name of planting a deer tree. If we apply the reasoning thus explained, then we should say: 'Why is it that in the world, when a hand hurts, one thinks, "I am in pain"? Therefore, these two are not different entities in the world.' Because it is necessary to say this. These are not merely spoken of in this way by the world, but must also be accepted as such, because the planted seed and the hurting hand are not a tree and a person. If one cannot establish that a tree is planted and a person is hurting, then these two would be impossible, and all conventions would be destroyed. The key point of these reasons is that the innate self-grasping of phenomena, as explained by the Svātantrikas, should also be considered imputed. If that is the case, then what would be considered the object of the cognitive obscurations? The commentary on the Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds says: 'Among these, the habitual tendencies of ignorance are obstacles that completely cut off objects of knowledge, and having the habitual tendencies of desire and so forth is also the cause of such actions of body and speech. However, the habitual tendencies of ignorance and desire and so forth will only cease in the Omniscient One and the Buddhas, but not in others.' From this statement, it is clear that this system of identification and the undisputed treatises of the Father and Sons have not arisen. The actions of body and speech are present even in Arhats, such as jumping like a monkey or saying "blind person" to others. Even if one shows and prohibits the bad actions of body and speech, they cannot be stopped. Furthermore, the word "also" indicates that the habitual tendencies of desire and so forth are also obstacles that cut off objects of knowledge. Therefore, all the habitual tendencies of afflictions are cognitive obscurations, and all the mistaken aspects of dualistic appearance are also...

烦恼之 Muir Thug Pa(藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思),串习,根本与习气,是为异名。

There they are gathered. The nature of habit is as stated in the Engaging in Bodhisattva Behavior: That which causes the mind's continuum to be stained, and is an obstacle, and follows after it, that is habit. Muir Thug Pa (藏文, 梵文天城体, 梵文罗马拟音, 汉语字面意思) of afflictions, familiarity, root, and habit, are different names. So it is said. To abandon this cognitive obscuration, although there is no other path than the previously explained path of realizing suchness, the difference in abandonment between the Great and Small Vehicles arises from whether the limbs of the means are complete, and whether or not one is familiar with them for a long time. The key to the scriptures saying much about the identification of the two self-grasps and the subtle and gross differences of the two selflessnesses is that the two self-grasps are different, and the way in which one is liberated from whatever obscurations by seeing selflessness is also very different. The difference between their definitive and provisional meanings should also be understood as previously explained. For those who do not accept the basis of all, it is very difficult to explain how habits are established, their state of existence, and their nature, so although it should be explained, I will not elaborate because brevity is endless and length is frightening. Because the way of establishing the two truths for persons and phenomena is different, the two selflessnesses of the two are also different, so the Great and Small Vehicles have different characteristics from other schools in terms of whether or not they realize it, the two self-grasps, and the two obscurations. Second, since the way of establishing persons and phenomena is as before, one cannot distinguish that persons such as stream-enterers exist in name, while persons such as hell-beings do not, because they are the same in being non-existent in ultimate truth and the same in being existent in name. Similarly, one cannot distinguish between the phenomena of aggregates, elements, and sense-fields, that those with form are non-existent while mind and mental factors are existent, because existence and non-existence are the same in both truths. On this, other Madhyamikas say that external objects and consciousness both exist, and some Madhyamikas and Yogacarins say that consciousness exists and external objects do not, but all say that if they exist, they are established by their own characteristics, and if they do not exist, they are not established by their own characteristics. This school also asserts that it is not reasonable for external objects to be established by their own characteristics, but they disagree on whether or not external objects must be non-existent. Therefore, in general, any phenomenon
