Quoting scriptures to establish the view that external objects exist is as previously stated. Other so-called "mind" is their own view. Which sutra is relied upon to act in this way? It is also said in the self-commentary of that scripture: If this is done, it is in accordance with everything that appears in the Dense Arrangement Sutra and the Explanation of Definitive Intentions Sutra, etc. The Lankavatara Sutra also says: External form is not existent, one's own mind appears as external. It is thought that this is well explained. Thus it is said. Like this, relying on the principle of mind-only, with little effort, one can realize the selflessness of persons and possessions, and the complete separation of grasper and grasped, etc., as being without inherent existence. With not small intelligence and particularly great diligence, if that mind is examined with the nature of one and many, one cannot see the essence in the ultimate sense, therefore, in the ultimate sense, one realizes the Middle Way principle of abandoning all extremes. The Ornament of the Middle Way says: Relying on mind-only, one should know that external objects are not real, relying on this principle, one should also know that it is extremely selfless. Thus it is said. This is also said in the Lankavatara Sutra: Cause and condition are reversed, cause is also necessarily negated, the establishment of mind-only, I have said to be unborn. External things of things do not exist, mind is also not completely grasped, in order to abandon all views, it is the characteristic of unborn. Thus it is said, it is explained in the Ornament Sutra, the first verse explains the unbirth of the mind-only school, the second explains the unbirth of the Middle Way school, as it is said in the explanation of that treatise. In conventional truth, because it is empty of external objects, it is the principle of mind-only, in ultimate truth, the principle that all phenomena are without inherent existence, through these two paths, one can attain the Great Vehicle, in that scripture it is said: Riding the chariot of two principles, grasping the reins of reason, those people therefore truly attain the Great Vehicle. Then, if one wants to explain that the principle that external objects do not exist in conventional truth is the view of Nagarjuna, then which scripture is it that one wants to know that it explains? The Ornament of the Middle Way says: Here it is also said, in this there is no birth whatsoever, there is no destruction or change, birth and destruction are all just awareness.

kho na'o. It also. Explaining the great elements and so on, it is completely contained in consciousness. If one knows that, one will be liberated. Isn't it a reversed distinction? Thus, it is proved that there is no external object. The latter verse is from the Sixty Stanzas of Reasoning. The first verse shows only consciousness. If you ask how to explain birth and becoming, the latter verse establishes that the two appear in those consciousnesses, so they are contained in consciousness. If you ask whether there is an external object outside of consciousness, even if there is, does it exist in reality? The answer is that it does not appear in true wisdom, so it is a false distinction. In the commentary, it is said that the first verse is quoted from the Lankavatara Sutra. Pages 601 to 700. Shantipa considered these two verses to be written by Nagarjuna, and believed that they showed only consciousness, and that the Madhyamaka and Yogacara schools were the same. Shantarakshita seemed to think that they should be quoted consistently, but there were also authors who made their own treatises and quoted them in the same treatise. This school believes that the appearances of blue and yellow, etc., are real, and Dharmakirti's view is also explained in this way, so it is a Madhyamaka who admits that appearances are true in name. Self-awareness is established in name, but the reason for establishing or not establishing the Alaya consciousness is not clearly stated, but it seems to be in the direction of not admitting it. The Madhyamaka who believes that the appearances of blue and yellow, etc., are not real in name, but are false appearances, is as explained by the teacher Lavapa, said the Pandit Lhancik Kyepe Joje. Third, if you ask how this school views the meaning of the Samdhinirmocana Sutra, as the Yogacara school says? The answer is, in the Madhyamaka Aloka, it is said: "For that meaning, the Bhagavan only said no birth, etc., which is said to be in the sense of reality, showing the meaning of the three no-natures, so in order to clearly show the Middle Way away from the two extremes, it establishes the doctrine of definitive meaning only." The Samdhinirmocana Sutra shows the meaning of the three no-natures, and the two explain that the sutras of the Mother, etc., are established as the doctrine of definitive meaning by that sutra. Also, slandering the nature of the conventional, and the permanent and other things and forms that do not exist in name.
