If it is thought that because it is merely established by the power of conceptualization, it does not appear in the absence of conceptualization, then the illusory horse and ox would also not appear in the absence of conceptualization, because it is merely established by conceptualization. Therefore, the statement in the *Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra* that the perfected nature is established by emptiness of the completely imputed nature that is imputed on the basis of identity and difference does not mean that there is no negation of the object and subject as separate entities. In that sūtra, in the context of *śamatha*, the negation of external objects is clearly stated. In general, although the completely imputed nature has many things such as general characteristics, all phenomena, and space, they are not mentioned in the *Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra* because they are not needed when establishing the perfected nature as empty of the completely imputed nature. Many of these are existent but cannot be designated by names and concepts, but they are not established by their own characteristics because they are merely imputed by conceptualization. The negation of the object and subject in relation to external objects is illustrated in the *Mahāyānasaṃgraha* with the example of dreams and reflections, in the *Vimsatika* with the example of the negation of partless atoms, by Dharmakīrti with the example of negating the similarity of the characteristics of the object and subject being produced, and by Dignāga and Dharmakīrti with the example of negating the aggregation of atoms and the subtle particles being the object of perception. All the statements of "non-existence" in the *Mother Sūtras* negate the completely imputed nature. If one does not understand this method of negating the completely imputed nature in the *Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra* in relation to those mentioned in the *Mahāyānasaṃgraha*, and only explains it as negating the completely imputed nature of the object and subject as separate entities, then in the Yogācāra-Vijñānavāda system, one would have to assert many unreasonable views. Furthermore, it would be extremely difficult to explain in this way the statements that there is no object of perception anywhere in relation to permanence and impermanence, and so on. Therefore, it would be necessary to say that those statements that say there is no object of perception anywhere refer to being in equipoise (*samāhita*), and that those statements that say there is an object of perception by distinguishing this from that refer to the time of subsequent discrimination (*pṛṣṭhalabdha*), which is a sign of being at a loss for words. The four seekings and four complete understandings mentioned in the *Yogācārabhūmi*, *Mahāyānasaṃgraha*, and *Abhidharmasamuccaya* are for establishing the view of Vijñānavāda, and are the supreme gateway for entering into mere consciousness, and are said to be the antidote to the conceptualization that is the basis of afflictions and the obscuration of knowledge.

It seems necessary to understand even from the smallest additions. In particular, it seems necessary to understand how these reasonings can preclude other objects of grasping and grasper, and thus engage in mere consciousness, but even contemplation has not entered, so only a door of contemplation is shown to those with intelligence. Secondly, in the *Exposition of Thought*, it says: "By manifestly clinging to the nature of the dependently arisen as the imputational, one generates afflictions, and by this accumulates karma and revolves in samsara. If one sees that the characteristic of the imputational on the dependently arisen is without own-nature, then those will cease in sequence." It is said that the Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and Bodhisattvas all attain nirvana through this very path and this very practice, so their path of complete purity and complete purity are also one, without a second. And it is not said that the way in which the dependently arisen is empty of the imputational is different from what was said before. Therefore, do Hearers and Solitary Realizers also take the realization of the selflessness of phenomena as the meaning of this sutra, or not? If they do, it contradicts all that was previously said to be uncommon. If they do not, then how do they explain the meaning of the sutra? On this, the *Yogacarabhumi* also says that in terms of essence and difference, the conceptualization and the conceptualization that grasps as a whole generate a place of proliferation of the object of conceptualization, and relying on that, the view of the perishable collection arises, and by this, other afflictions are generated, and thus one revolves in samsara. If one knows that the object grasped by conceptualization is without meaning through the four seekings and the four complete knowings, then those will cease. In this way, they assert that the self-grasping of phenomena, which grasps that what is imputed to phenomena in terms of essence and difference is established by its own characteristic, is the root of the view of the perishable collection. And, just as the Madhyamikas who assert that Hearers and Solitary Realizers do not realize the selflessness of phenomena assert, the self-grasping of phenomena is the basis of the self-grasping of persons. On this, if the self-grasping of phenomena is exhausted, then the self-grasping of persons ceases, but if the self-grasping of phenomena is not exhausted, then the self-grasping of persons will not cease, so even if the ultimate basis of samsara is not reversed, there is no contradiction in being liberated from samsara. Therefore, saying "this very path" refers to the path of realizing that the dependently arisen is empty of the nature of the imputational, but it is not necessary to refer to the path of the selflessness of phenomena, because the emptiness of the dependently arisen of the imputational is the power of the selflessness of persons.
