Because it is said, "Sakya is also a people." Therefore, the way to slander other autonomous things is not to say that it does not exist in name, or that it does not exist in general, but as it was said before, to say that something that originally existed in the ultimate sense does not exist, which is called slander. Second, if the way of slander is like that, then how to cut off these two slanders? In this regard, the extreme of exaggeration is that for any dharma, by establishing its own nature and difference, it is prevented by showing that it is empty in the ultimate sense, and it will be explained in detail. Slander is said in the Bodhisattva Bhumi: Immediately after the quoted teaching, like this, for example, if the aggregates such as form exist, then a person can be established, and if it does not exist, then for things that do not exist, a person cannot be established. Similarly, if only the nature of dharmas such as form exists, then it is convenient to establish the words of the establishment of dharmas such as form. If it does not exist, then for things that do not exist, the establishment cannot be established with the words of establishment. If the basis of establishment does not exist, then because the basis does not exist, the establishment also does not exist. Because it is said in this way, it is prevented. In this regard, here, the one who admits the former statement of preventing slander, there is no need to come to other sects, and in his own sect, no one admits that the nature of things such as form, which is the basis for establishing names and terms for the Hearer Department, does not exist. Therefore, as it is said in the Compendium, it is the one who proclaims the Mahayana doctrine, and also the one who proclaims the self-naturelessness of saying that all dharmas are not established by their own nature. They absolutely do not think that other autonomous dharmas do not exist in general, or do not exist in name, but say that they are not established in the ultimate sense. Therefore, preventing "if only things do not exist" is like what was said before, preventing the real things that exist in the ultimate sense from not existing. Because according to this sect, for the completely imputed, even if it is not established by its own nature, and does not exist in the ultimate sense, it does not necessarily not exist. However, the other two natures, if they are not established in the ultimate sense or by their own nature, then they do not exist. Other autonomous minds and mental factors arise depending on their own causes and conditions, and if that is an arising established by its own characteristics, then it will become an ultimate arising.

If not, one would presumptuously assume that it arises from consciousness, merely establishing the statement of "arising," but the entities of mind and mental factors would not actually arise. I thought in this way. Therefore, the arising and ceasing of other-dependence is merely on the surface of being fixated as arising and ceasing by deluded consciousness, so there is arising and ceasing in conventional truth, and thus it will not become slander. This statement is untenable, just as a rope mistaken for a snake, on the surface of the illusion the rope is a snake, but in general the rope has never been established as a snake. Similarly, the cause and effect of other-dependence are also cause and effect on the surface of the illusion of clinging to cause and effect. If it is thought that other-dependence itself has not been established as cause and effect, then even if this is admitted, there will be no place to establish the karmic results of happiness and suffering arising from good and evil, and slander cannot be avoided. If one does not think in this way, but believes in cause and effect established by its own characteristics, then it is equivalent to admitting existence in ultimate truth, and thus the purpose is achieved. Thinking in this way, If there is no basis for imputation, then imputation is also impossible, so all phenomena are merely imputed, and the idea that "that is the only truth" is impossible, and thus it will become the root of nihilistic views. As it says in the *Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra*: "Therefore, some people hear the difficult-to-understand sūtras of the Great Vehicle, which possess profound emptiness and reveal the meaning of intention, but do not understand the meaning of what is said as it is, and do not properly contemplate it. Merely through the conceptualization generated by unreasonable reasoning, they think that all of this is merely imputed, and whoever thinks in this way is thinking correctly, and they think and speak in this way. According to their view, even the entity that is the basis of imputation does not exist, so the imputation itself will not exist in all of everything, so how can there be the view of the only truth of mere imputation? Therefore, in another way, they slander both the only truth and the imputation. Because they slander the imputation and the only truth, it should be known that they are the main representatives of nihilistic views." Having said this, considering this point, the view of self is a mistaken understanding of the emptiness of wisdom, and the situation is not like that. Because the former is merely confused about knowable objects, and does not slander all knowable objects, while the latter slanders all knowable objects.
