The mind of activity, the Tathagatas have not seen. Wherever there is something to be examined and something that examines, there is no enlightenment. What is said is to show that there is no attainment of enlightenment by holding what is to be examined and what examines as true. If it is said that the wisdom of individual examination is prevented, and only what is to be examined and what examines are prevented, then it contradicts the fact that the essence of reality is determined by many doors of individual examination in that text. Because if the two are not seen by the Buddhas, they will become non-existent. Again, in the same text it says: Unborn and emptiness, and what is called selflessness, emptiness itself. Whoever meditates on the inferior self, that is not what he meditates on. What is said is that it does not prevent meditating on emptiness and selflessness, which are unborn by nature. It prevents meditating on the inferior self, that is, the emptiness that is despised, which is held to be true in those things. As it is praised as surpassing the world: In order to eliminate all conceptualizations, when emptiness is shown as nectar, whoever clings to it, that is what you greatly despise. As it is said. Similarly, in the Ratnavali it is also said: Thus, self and selflessness, are not truly objects of focus. The views of self and selflessness, therefore, are rejected by the Great Sage. What is said is that since neither self nor selflessness are truly established, the view that the two are truly existent is rejected, but the view of selflessness is not prevented. As mentioned in the previous refutation, if the selflessness that is established by nature is not, then it will become existent by nature. These are from the Compendium: Even if one thinks that these aggregates are empty, the Bodhisattva does not believe, he practices on characteristics and does not trust in the unborn state. As it is said, and in the Great Mother: If one practices on form being empty, and on what is called selflessness, one practices on characteristics, and does not practice on the Perfection of Wisdom. The meaning of what is said is also about holding emptiness etc. as true. If it is not so, then it is not reasonable to not trust in the unborn state. Because believing in it will also become practicing on characteristics. Again, in the same sutra it says: Those who fully understand that all phenomena are without nature, this is the supreme practice of the Perfection of Wisdom. And what

The conditioned, the unconditioned, and the black and white dharmas, if wisdom dissects them well, even a speck of dust cannot be found, then in the world, there can be the name of Prajnaparamita. Moreover, as it is said in the Samadhiraja Sutra: "If one realizes the selflessness of all dharmas individually, and after examining them separately, what one meditates on, that is the cause of attaining Nirvana. Other causes cannot bring about cessation." Thus it is said. Furthermore, in the Heart Sutra of the Prajnaparamita, Shariputra asked: "If a Bodhisattva wishes to practice the profound Prajnaparamita, how should he learn?" Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva replied: "He should view it thus, the five aggregates are all empty." And so on, which contradicts this. Therefore, the Dharmadhatu Stotra says: "The supreme mind is the subduer, the dharma is without self-nature." It also says: "Because of clinging to self and what belongs to self, until the external objects are discriminated, if one sees the two aspects of selflessness, then one can cut off the seed of existence." Moreover, as it is said in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara: "Therefore, one should contemplate the emptiness of self and what belongs to self, thus the yogi is liberated." Thus it should be known, one should cultivate the certainty of selflessness and the absence of inherent existence. Here, the First Stage of Meditation says: "Entering the dharani of non-discrimination, by not attending to it, one abandons the signs of form and so on." What is said here means that what is not found by examining with wisdom, one does not attend to that, not that one does not attend to it at all. Like those in the state of non-perception, from beginningless time, regarding form and so on, one only abandons the attending to the manifest clinging, not that one abandons attending to it. Thus, what is said in the scriptures that meditating on non-attention can abandon the clinging to signs, also means that with the wisdom of proper examination, regarding the object of true clinging, even a speck of dust cannot be found, one abides in such a meaning. Moreover, the Middle Stage of Meditation says: "What is the mind? If one searches for it, one realizes it is empty. What realizes with the mind, if one searches for its nature completely, one also knows it is empty. Thus realizing, one can enter the yoga without signs." Thus it is said.
