The yogi says that it is refuted by reason. As it says in the Engaging in Bodhisattva Behavior: "All the faults of afflictions, are seen by the mind to arise from the view of the aggregates. Having realized that 'I' is the object of this, the yogi refutes 'I'." It is clearly stated. That is also what should be done by those who meditate on suchness, so it is said by the yogi. This principle is also the noble intention of the protector Nagarjuna, as it says in the Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning: "That is the cause of all views. Without that, afflictions do not arise. Therefore, if that is completely known, views and afflictions are completely abandoned. Who will know that? It is seeing dependent arising. The supreme knower said that what is born dependently is unborn." Thus, it is said that the clinging to truth, which is the cause of afflicted views and all other afflictions, is abandoned by realizing the suchness of things that are not born by their own nature, by the reason of dependent arising. Seeing that there is no self-nature, it is because it is impossible without refuting the object of clinging to things as being established by their own nature. What Arya Deva said in accordance with this has already been quoted earlier. Again, the Four Hundred Stanzas says: "If one sees that objects are without self, then the seed of existence will be stopped." Thus, it is said that seeing the selflessness of the object held by self-grasping cuts off the root of existence, ignorance. The venerable Shantideva also said: "The emptiness of the person is thus very well established. Therefore, because the root is cut, all afflictions do not arise at all." As it says in the Secret Sutra of the Blessed Thus Gone One: "Peaceful Intelligence, for example, if a tree is cut from the root, then all the branches and leaves and small branches will wither. Peaceful Intelligence, likewise, if the view of the aggregates is pacified, then all afflictions and near afflictions will be pacified." It is said that by meditating on the realization of the emptiness of the person being empty of self-nature, the view of the aggregates is reversed, and if that is reversed, then all other afflictions are also reversed. It is because it is impossible to realize selflessness without refuting the object of grasping at the self of the person. With that sutra

The view of self is shown to be the root of all other afflictions. If it were something other than ignorance, there would be two different roots of samsara, so it should also be considered ignorance. In short, many great scholars who explain the meaning of the profound scriptures, when determining the meaning of suchness, analyze in various ways with many reasonings, because they see that without negating the self that is grasped by the inverted clinging, and without seeing the emptiness of that self, one cannot realize selflessness and emptiness, so it is very important to do so. Like this, if you do not meditate on the meaning of blocking the object of the fundamental inversion that binds samsara, even if you meditate on other meanings that are considered profound, it will not harm self-grasping at all. Because, if the mind does not merge into the suchness of selflessness and emptiness, it is impossible to reverse self-grasping. And, without exposing the object of self-grasping, even if you only withdraw the mind from its object, it cannot be regarded as entering into selflessness. The reason is that when the mind engages in an object, there are three situations: one is to hold the object as true, one is to hold the object as untrue, and one is to hold it without distinguishing between the two. Just as not grasping as true does not necessarily require grasping as untrue, not entering into the two selves does not necessarily require entering into the two selflessnesses, because the mind has infinite ways of staying on the third aggregate. The two self-grasps mainly arise by focusing on the substantiality of persons and phenomena. Therefore, it is necessary to determine that the basis on which delusion arises is non-existent, just as it is grasped. Otherwise, it is like a thief running into the forest and searching for traces on the grass. Therefore, meditating on the meaning thus determined eliminates delusion. Such emptiness is the supreme meaning of suchness. If you abandon it and determine another meaning of suchness, it is merely an imputation of desire, and it has become outside the meaning of the scriptures. Therefore, the ignorance that grasps as true the elaborations of persons such as men and women, and phenomena such as form and feeling, can be reversed by gaining the view of realizing the emptiness of selflessness and meditating on it. If it is reversed, then the object of grasping at truth also
