I need a medium teacher. I need someone who, the more I meditate, the deeper my understanding of the Dharma becomes. Thinking like this, if the view is firm, then all thoughts of good and non-good are conceptualizations, so they should be abandoned. When a bad friend says this, thinking that the Dharma does not say this, and a virtuous friend would not think like this, so I will not listen to him. If not, then faith is only a little, without wisdom, looking at someone crying makes you want to cry, looking at someone laughing makes you want to laugh, like a stream of water, whatever is said seems true, and then you follow wherever you are led. When learning wisdom, you need to have the six perfections, abide in your own wisdom, and then guide others into wisdom, this is the giving of wisdom, and the rest are like before. Secondly, giving is the same as what was said before in the context of the perfections, and pleasing speech is to teach the perfections to those to be tamed. Beneficial conduct is to have those to be tamed practice or truly receive the meaning as it is taught. Meaning consistency is to abide in the meaning that others are applying and learn in accordance with it, as it says in the Ornament for the Sutras: By giving equally, showing that, receiving, entering, and oneself following, it is considered pleasing speech, beneficial conduct, and meaning consistency. Why is it determined to be the four means of gathering? In order to make the retinue practice virtue, gathering first requires liking them, and this depends on giving material gifts to benefit the body. After liking them like this, in order to enter the path, you first need to know how to do it, and this requires eliminating misunderstanding and doubt by speaking Dharma with pleasing speech, in order to truly receive the meaning. After understanding this, you engage in practicing virtue through beneficial conduct, and this requires that if you do not practice it yourself, you tell others that this is how you should practice. If you say: If you yourself do not practice that meaning, why tell others to practice it? You still need others to tame you, after saying this, others will not listen to you, if you practice it yourself, then the virtue that you have entered, he also abides in it, therefore thinking that if you practice this, it will definitely benefit and bring happiness to yourself, so you will newly join, and those who have already joined will also

Since it firmly relies on reversal, it must be in accordance with this. The Buddhas have declared that in order to accomplish all the benefits and excellent means for all those to be tamed, therefore those who gather retinues must rely on this. Those who possess the gathering of retinues should truly rely on this method, which accomplishes all the benefits of all beings and is praised as an excellent means. Thus it is said. So, how should one practice equanimity and subsequent attainment for them? Lord Atiśa said: The conduct of a Bodhisattva is the great six perfections, etc. Through the yoga of equanimity and arising, firmly cultivate this path of accumulation. As it is said, like a novice Bodhisattva who has taken the Bodhisattva vows, abiding on the path of accumulation, whether practicing equanimity or subsequent attainment, it will not go beyond the six perfections, so some of the six perfections are cultivated in equanimity, and some are cultivated in subsequent attainment. For example, some of the nature of meditation, calm abiding, and some of the nature of wisdom, insight, are meditated on as equanimity, while the first three perfections and some parts of meditation and wisdom are cultivated as subsequent attainment. Diligence comes in both equanimity and subsequent attainment, and one aspect of patience, namely, the firm contemplation of profound Dharma, also occurs in equanimity. Lord Atiśa said: At the time of arising from equanimity, like the eight similes of illusion, by becoming accustomed to seeing all dharmas, purify the subsequent conceptualizations, and mainly learn the means. At the time of abiding in equanimity, calm abiding and insight should be equal, and constantly become accustomed to this. Thus it is said. Such wonderful and difficult-to-practice behaviors, when heard by an untrained mind, cause suffering, and even Bodhisattvas cannot practice them from the beginning, but if they understand them and become accustomed to them even to the extent of making aspirations, then later there is no need to strive, and they will naturally enter, so habit is very important. If one sees that one cannot truly enter and abandons the habit of training the mind in these, then one will be very far from the pure path. In "Praise of Infinite Qualities" it is said: Whatever is heard that will cause harm to this world, and the asceticism that you yourself have not practiced for a long time, these behaviors, through habit, will naturally change in due course.
