For some, destroying actions such as inner discipline, that is, destroying those that have the same cause, the same kind, and are continuous, but it does not destroy the perfection of body, enjoyment, and so on. For some, as previously mentioned, if a Bodhisattva who has received a prophecy does not generate anger, they can complete the path of realization that can be completed in one kalpa. If one thought of anger arises, even if the path that is already in the mind is not abandoned, it is like walking slowly on the path for one kalpa. In short, just as when eliminating non-virtue, it is not necessary to eliminate all of its actions, when destroying virtue, is it not also unnecessary to destroy all of its actions? However, this is very important, and it seems that it can only be contemplated by relying on the words of the only Buddha and the reasoning based on it, so one should carefully read the scriptures and contemplate. In this way, causing extremely unpleasant results, and preventing others from producing extremely pleasant results, are unseen faults. The faults of this life are: not being able to experience inner peace and tranquility, joy and happiness disappearing, not being able to obtain future joy, not being able to sleep, the mind not being able to be calm, if anger is strong, even forgetting the kindness of past benefactors and killing them, friends also becoming tired and abandoning, even if gathering with generosity, not being able to stay, etc., these are all mentioned in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara. Furthermore, the Bodhisattvacharyavatara says: "There is no sin like anger, there is no austerity like patience, therefore, one should strive to cultivate patience with various methods." As it is said, one should think about the benefits and faults, and strive to cultivate patience from many aspects. The actions that gather both the serious results and the destruction of the roots of virtue are not necessarily only anger, but also the wrong view of slander, abandoning the Dharma, despising Bodhisattvas and Lamas, etc., and generating pride, etc., these can be understood from the Compendium of Trainings. The method of cultivating patience without any thoughts towards the harmer is: observing whether the harmer has the freedom not to cause harm. If they have the freedom but cause harm, that is not true, because the seeds of past habitual afflictions and improper attention, etc.

Furthermore, the circumstance of causing harm generates the desire to inflict harm, which in turn generates actions that cause harm, thereby inflicting suffering on others. This is because the individual themselves is controlled by afflictions, becoming like a slave. Even if harm is inflicted by someone driven by others without autonomy, it is not appropriate to be angry. For example, some individuals are possessed by spirits and controlled by them. They may desire to harm those who help them escape from possession and engage in beating, etc. However, since this is done because the spirit has deprived them of their autonomy, one should not be angry with them at all, but rather strive to be rid of the spirit. A Bodhisattva should also act in this way. As the Four Hundred Verses states: "Anger is also seized by an elemental force; the doctor is not disturbed, just so. The Sage sees afflictions as the enemy, not the person connected with afflictions." Moreover, the master Chandrakirti also said: "Here, sentient beings are not the fault, but these afflictions are the fault. Having thoroughly analyzed, the wise do not become angry with sentient beings." As it is said. Furthermore, experiencing the suffering caused by the one who harms is experiencing the result of one's own previously accumulated negative karma, and relying on that, that karma will be exhausted. If one cultivates patience with it, then in the future one will not accumulate new causes for experiencing suffering. If one becomes angry, then one must experience even greater suffering than that. Therefore, just as one endures bloodletting and cauterization as a means of curing a great illness, it is very appropriate to endure small sufferings in order to avert great suffering. The method of cultivating patience by accepting suffering is as follows: if the suffering that has arisen can be remedied, then there is no need to be displeased. If it cannot be remedied, then being displeased is of no benefit, it is unnecessary, and there are also faults. If the sensitivity is great, then even small suffering is very difficult to endure. If the sensitivity is small, then even great suffering can be endured. The way to take the side of suffering with the mind is like this: if there is no suffering, the desire to definitely escape from samsara will not arise. Therefore, it has the quality of encouraging liberation. If one is afflicted by suffering, then the height of arrogance will be destroyed, it has the quality of eliminating pride.
