Saying, "It is not proper to abandon offerings to this." Also, it says, "Discipline is the path to attain distinction, to be practiced together with those who possess compassion. Pure wisdom is the essence of excellence, called the supreme ornament free from defects. In all three realms, it is a pleasing fragrance, an ointment that does not contradict renunciation. Though the appearance is similar, if one possesses discipline, then among humans, that one becomes noble." Thus, relying on this, the lineage goes from higher to higher, and the learning becomes the same as that of the great Bodhisattvas who possess compassion. One obtains pure wisdom by abandoning all seeds of misdeeds. Other ornaments are not beautiful for those who are very young or old, but the ornament of discipline, whoever possesses it, whether old, young, or in between, brings joy to all, and is the supreme ornament. Other fine fragrances drift in one direction, but do not drift in the direction that is not that direction, so they are biased. But the fragrance of the fame of discipline goes in all directions. The ointment of sandalwood and other substances that relieve heat is contrary to renunciation, but the ointment that protects against the heat of afflictions is not contrary to renunciation, and is in harmony with it. Although one may appear similar by merely possessing the signs of renunciation, one who possesses the wealth of discipline is said to be superior to others. Furthermore, it is said in that very text: "Though not spoken, nor becoming a burden, it gathers the enjoyments and offerings needed for practice. Without threats, it makes the whole world submit. Without effort, without practice, one obtains power. Lineages that should not be spoken of also arise. Without doing anything beneficial or solitary, all beings who were previously unknown also pay homage to the person who possesses discipline. Even the dust that has become auspicious by the feet is taken and cherished on the crown of the head. Gods and humans, prostrating with their heads touching the ground, always carry with them what they have obtained." Thus, one should contemplate. Although there are three types of discipline, the discipline of vows, the actual precepts of individual liberation or those common to it, the act of engaging and refraining, is also primarily important for a Bodhisattva. If one protects this, then the others will also be protected. If one does not protect this, then the others will also not be protected. Therefore, if the discipline of vows of a Bodhisattva is broken, then all vows
