Furthermore, It is like walking in the darkness. At the time of death, various unpleasant images like dreams will appear, and intense feelings of suffering will arise. The key point is that all places of birth (except) the realms of gods and hells have (this suffering). For those who have a mind of neutrality, neither the happiness nor the suffering mentioned before will arise. At the time of death, of the two minds, virtuous and non-virtuous, whichever is more accustomed will manifest, and other minds will not follow. If the habituation of both minds is equal, then whichever is thought of first will manifest, and the others will not follow. When the mind flows in a subtle way, the two minds, virtuous and non-virtuous, will transform and become a mind of neutrality. At the time of death, before reaching the state of unclear consciousness, all beings will develop attachment to the "self" that has been accustomed to for a long time. After that, due to attachment to the "self," they will think that the "self" is about to disappear, and then they will develop love for the body, which is the cause for the formation of the bardo. For the stream-enterer and the once-returner, self-attachment will also arise, but they will examine it with wisdom and abandon it, not accept it, just like a strong person strikes a weak person. For the non-returner, this self-attachment will not arise. Third, those who commit non-virtuous deeds initially gather warmth from the upper body and then discard it to the heart. Those who perform virtuous deeds initially gather warmth from the lower body and then discard it to the heart, and consciousness transmigrates from the heart. Initially, in the center of semen and blood, whichever consciousness enters, that becomes the heart. Finally, from whichever direction it transmigrates, it initially enters that direction. Fourth, as mentioned before, from the direction in which consciousness transmigrates, without interruption, like the height and low of a balance scale, death and the bardo are formed. That bardo also has complete faculties such as eyes, and has the form of the body of the being that will be born. Until birth is taken, the eyes are unobstructed like divine eyes, and the body is also unobstructed like having miraculous powers. The bardo is seen by bardos of the same kind and by divine eyes arising from meditation, because they are free from defects. If the bardo of any realm is formed, from then on it cannot be reversed to other places of birth, so it is said in the Abhidharmakosha. But in the Collected Topics, it is also said that it can be reversed.
