Bondage is the nature of being bound, and liberation from it is liberation. Wanting to attain it is the mind that seeks liberation. Secondly, just as the desire to attain the cessation of the suffering of thirst arises from seeing the unpleasantness of being tormented by thirst, similarly, the desire to attain liberation, which pacifies the suffering of the aggregates of appropriation, also depends on seeing the faults of the aggregates of appropriation, which are of the nature of suffering. If, after contemplating the faults of existence, one does not generate the mind of wanting to abandon it, one will not generate the desire to pacify suffering. As it is said in the Four Hundred: "For whom there is no weariness here, how can there be reverence for peace?" Therefore, there are two aspects to this: contemplating the faults of suffering, the truth of suffering in cyclic existence, and contemplating the order of entry into cyclic existence, the truth of origin. The first has two aspects: explaining the intention of the Buddha in initially teaching the truth of suffering among the four truths, and actually meditating on suffering. The first is: Since origin is the cause and suffering is its result, origin comes first and suffering comes later, why did the Bhagavan not conform to this order and say: "Monks, this is the noble truth of suffering, this is the noble truth of origin?" In response to this, the Teacher spoke in reverse order of cause and effect, because there is a great point of practice, so there is no fault. What is that? Like this, if the person to be tamed does not first generate a genuine desire to be liberated from cyclic existence, how can he be led to liberation, since the root is cut off? Therefore, the person to be tamed is first obscured by the darkness of ignorance and deceived by the perverted view that holds the perfections of cyclic existence to be happiness. As it is said in the Four Hundred: "In this ocean of suffering there is no end, all categories are non-existent, child, you are sinking in this, why do you not feel fear?" Like this, this is not true happiness but suffering! After explaining the many aspects of suffering in this way, it is necessary to generate weariness, therefore the truth of suffering was initially taught. Afterwards, seeing oneself drowning in the ocean of suffering and wanting to be liberated from it, one sees that that suffering must be stopped, and knowing that it will not stop if the cause is not stopped, one knows its cause.

Thinking about what it is like, in order to understand the truth of the origin, the truth of the origin is taught after that. Then, the knowledge of the truth of the origin arises, knowing that the suffering of samsara is karma with defilements, that karma is produced by defilements, and that its root is self-grasping. When it is seen that self-grasping can also be reversed, vows are made to realize the cessation of suffering, so the truth of cessation is taught after that. Now, if the truth of suffering is taught, desire for liberation will arise. Therefore, it is reasonable to teach the truth of cessation after the truth of suffering. If you think so, there is no fault, because at that time, although there is a desire for liberation, hoping to attain the cessation of the suffering of peace, since the cause of suffering has not been recognized and the cause has not been seen as reversible, it is not thought that cessation should be realized, and liberation is not grasped as something to be attained. In this way, when grasping that liberation, the cessation, should be realized, one wonders what the path to go there is. Therefore, one enters the path of truth, so the truth of the path is taught last. In this way, the four truths are taught many times in all the great and small vehicles, and the key points of entering samsara and reversing from it are summarized by the Sugata, so it is very important for accomplishing liberation and is a key summary of practice, so students must be guided in that order. If, through contemplating the truth of suffering, there is no genuine renunciation of samsara, then the desire to attain liberation will only be words, and everything done will turn into the origin. If, through contemplating the origin, the root afflictions of samsara are not well understood, it is like shooting an arrow without seeing the target. The key points of the path will be cut off, and grasping what is not the path of liberation from existence as being the path, the effort will be fruitless. If the suffering and origin to be abandoned are not understood, then the liberation of their near pacification will also not be recognized, so the pursuit of liberation will only be self-deception. The second part has two parts: contemplating the general suffering of samsara, and contemplating individual suffering. The first part has two parts: contemplating the eight sufferings, and contemplating the six sufferings. The first is: For all the middling and common mind training, the common ones are those that were taught in the small scope, and should be adopted here as well, and for the uncommon mind training, if the intelligence is sufficient, then as it is written.
