All kinds of faults are exhausted, and all kinds of virtues are perfected. The Mahayana, which accomplishes this, also prevents all faults and generates all virtues. Therefore, all kinds of qualities of abandonment and realization of all other vehicles are included in the Mahayana path. Therefore, all that the Buddhas accomplish is included in the limbs of the Mahayana path. Because there is no teaching of the Buddha that is not used to eliminate some fault or generate some virtue. Moreover, all of these are practiced by the Mahayana. If someone thinks that although it is like this in the Paramita Vehicle, it is not like this when entering the Vajrayana. Although, like the Paramita Vehicle, there are countless different ways of learning the clear distinctions of generosity, etc., which are different from mantras, the basis of practice is the generation of Bodhicitta, and the rough body of the path of practicing the six perfections is similar, so these are common. The Vajrasekhara Sutra says: "Even for the sake of life, one should not abandon Bodhicitta." and "One should never abandon the practice of the six perfections." There are many such statements in other tantric scriptures as well. In the reliable rituals of Anuttarayoga Tantra, it is also said that one must hold both common and uncommon vows, the former being the Bodhisattva vows. The Venerable Rinpoche also said: "My guru knows how to grasp all the teachings with the four-cornered path." This sentence is very worthy of study. Secondly, the greatness of all the scriptures appearing as instructions is that some people regard all the great treatises as teachings without the key points of practice, and think that the key points of practice are separate oral instructions that show the essence of the meaning, thus thinking that the sacred Dharma itself has two different Dharmas of explanation and practice. This view hinders the generation of great respect for the immaculate sutras and commentaries, and considers them as merely distinguishing external knowledge without showing the inner meaning, thus regarding them as objects of contempt and accumulating the sin of abandoning the Dharma. Therefore, for those who desire liberation, the most reliable instruction is

Although they are great treatises, due to reasons such as one's own lack of intelligence, as the essence of the teachings, one cannot ascertain by relying solely on the treatises. Therefore, one should seek certainty about them by relying on the instructions of the holy ones. One should not think that the treatises are merely external limitations and have no essence, while the instructions reveal the inner meaning and are therefore the best. The great yogi Bodhibhadra said, "When the instructions truly enter the heart, it does not mean gaining certainty in a 'Precious Casket Scripture' the size of one's palm, but rather understanding that all the scriptures are instructions." Moreover, the disciple of the great Atisha, the practitioner Rinchen Lama, also said, "In Atisha's instructions, on a single cushion, body, speech, and mind were reduced to ashes. Now, all the treatises are understood as instructions." One should understand it in this way. The Teacher Rinpoche said, "Having studied many teachings, if one needs to seek the method of practice from elsewhere, that is a mistake." Just like that, although one has studied many teachings for a long time, if one does not know the method of practice at all, and then wants to practice, and needs to seek the method from elsewhere, this is also a mistake because one has not understood what was said before. Just like that, it is said in the 'Treasury of Teachings', "The Teacher's sacred Dharma has two aspects: the nature of scripture and realization." Just like that, there are only two teachings: scripture and realization. The teaching of scripture is to determine the way to receive the Dharma and the method of practice, while the teaching of realization is to practice in accordance with the way it was determined after it has been determined. Therefore, these two are cause and effect. For example, just like in a horse race, one must first indicate the racetrack to the horse, and after it has been indicated, it runs there. If one indicates the racetrack elsewhere, but runs elsewhere, it will become a joke. Similarly, if one determines something through hearing and thinking, but practices something else, how can one accomplish it? Just like it is said in the 'Later Stages of Meditation', "Again, whatever is realized by the wisdom arising from hearing and thinking should be meditated upon by the wisdom arising from meditation, and not by anything else, just as one runs after indicating the racetrack for the horse." That is how it is said. Thus, this instruction, from the method of relying on a spiritual friend to the intermediate stages of calm abiding and insight, is scripture.

Having completely gathered all the key points of the path, including commentaries, one engages in settling meditation on those that require settling meditation, and examines those that require analytical meditation with discriminating wisdom, and then guides them into the order of practice. In this way, all the scriptures appear as pith instructions, and one develops the conviction that they are the essence of pith instructions. The false notions that they are merely supporting texts and not actual pith instructions will completely disappear. The third greatness is that the Buddha's intention is easily attained: Although the great scriptures, including commentaries, are the essence of pith instructions, for a beginner who has not fully studied them, even if they enter these scriptures without relying on the guru's pith instructions, they will not be able to attain their intention. Even if they can attain it, it will take a very long time and great effort. If one relies on such guru's pith instructions, one will easily realize it. The fourth greatness is that great misdeeds naturally cease: As stated in the "White Lotus" and the "Truthful One" chapters, if one does not understand that all the Buddha's teachings directly or indirectly show the means to attain enlightenment, and instead considers some as means to attain enlightenment and others as obstacles to attaining enlightenment, and then distinguishes between good and bad, suitable and unsuitable, Mahayana and Hinayana, thinking that a Bodhisattva should study this and should not study that, if one abandons in this way, it will become abandoning the Dharma, and the karmic obscurations of abandoning the Dharma are very subtle and difficult to perceive, as stated in the Sutra of the Collection. The faults of abandoning the Dharma are very great, as stated in the Samadhiraja Sutra: "Whoever in this Jambudvipa destroys all stupas, whoever abandons the Sutra Pitaka, this sin is far superior. Whoever kills as many Arhats as there are sands in the Ganges, whoever abandons the Sutra Pitaka, this sin is far superior." It is said. In general, there are many causes for abandoning the Dharma, but this cause mentioned earlier seems to be the greatest, so one should strive to avoid it. Moreover, merely gaining the conviction as mentioned earlier will cause it to cease, so misdeeds naturally cease. That conviction is the "Truthful One" chapter and the "White Lotus of the Good Dharma" and so on.
